All We Know About the Upcoming Gambit Movie

As you may well know, Gambit (Remy Etienne LeBeau) is a popular comic book character of the Marvel world. He first appeared in the Uncanny X-Men (issue #266) in 1990 and was created by Chris Claremont and the artist Jim Lee. Since then, Gambit got a series of graphic novels, starting in 2012, and now, the whole collection amounts to 17 separate volumes.

Almost since its inception, movie producers tried to turn Gambit into a feature film, with Channing Tatum as the lead character. The movie has been in the works since May 2014 when the producer Lauren Shuler Donner started to persuade Tatum to take the role. But the date of the premiere has been pushed further and further because of various issues (such as the film losing multiple directors).

There have been many rumors about the movie being canceled and postponed, but let“s take a look at the facts we have so far.

Film studio giant 20th Century Fox will produce it, which also released other magnificent Marvel movies, such as Deadpool and Logan. These productions took years to come into fruition, and the story is not going to be any different when it comes to Gambit.

The current release date is for March 13, 2020. However, the release has been moved around so many times, that no one believes what the producers say. We“ll have to wait and see.

Gambit is allegedly Tatum“s favorite comic book character, so there“s some emotional investment there. The actor said: “Gambit is really the only X-Men I“ve ever loved… I mean, I“ve loved them all, they“re all great, but I guess just being from down South–my dad“s from Louisiana, I’m from Mississippi, Alabama, Florida–I don’t know, I just related to him.”“

Unfortunately, the movie production plagues with difficulties. It already lost three different directors who left for various reasons. First, it was Rupert Wyatt, then Doug Liman, followed by Gore Verbinski. But hey, we still have the Gambit fan film to cheer ourselves up!

Now, producer Simon Kinberg is still looking for a new director, but recently, he admitted that the plot of the movie is probably going to change. In the beginning, it was supposed to be a heist flick, but now, it“s probably going transform into a love story, with Lea Seydoux as Gambit“s lover Bella Donna Boudreaux.

We“ll have to wait a few more months or years to get the final answers. Obviously, many fans still doubt that the movie will ever release. Let“s not lose hope, though!
