Diamond Select Toys Avatar The Last Airbender Toph Select Figure Review
Today in the Toyverse, I dive into the much beloved Avatar franchise courtesy of Diamond Select, and examine the Toph Select figure. A special shout out to Diamond Select for sending over the figure, but I will be honest, I dont know much of anything about the character, but I do think it’s pretty cool looking. So let me dive in and showcase why I enjoy the figure.
Design:
The character of Toph has many looks, and this first version from Diamond Select works out well. The sculpt is very nice. I do wish the facial features were a little stronger, but the character still looks stunning. The outfit seems to be on point based on the artwork I have seen, and the colors pop nice. The greens are nice and vibrant, and the yellows and whites balance out the look quite nice. The wrinkles are sculpted great, and help bring out the costume really well.
Articulation:
In terms of movement, Toph works good. Like the other Avatar figures from Diamond Select, Toph does not have movement at the chest. For some this is going to be a turn off, but after playing around with the figure, it doesn’t bother me. I am more about sculpt work, so the lack of movement in the upper body isn’t a deal breaker. The arms and feet move very well, and kicking and punching won’t be affected with the articulation provided. The head could use a little more movement, but once again, not a deal breaker.
The Extras/Final Thoughts:
Packed into the deluxe release of this figure are some really fun gems. Multiple hands are always nice for this Earth bending champion, and I absolutely love the earth effect hands. The inclusion of the earth sled effect is cool as well. In addition to all of that, you also get a display base with a flight stand that helps to round out the figure. Overall, I can’t speak high enough on how fun Toph is to play around with. Its a character I know nothing about, yet this toy from Diamond Select is great to play around with. You can pick up the the deluxe version at online retailers, comic shops, or even on Diamond Select’s website. If you want a more basic version, check your local Walgreens.
