Diamond Select Toys Cobra Kai John Kreese Action Figure Review
Today in the Toyverse we head to All Valley and look at a new Diamond Select release based on the hit Netflix show Cobrai Kai. Up for discussion today is John Kreese. I want to say right off the bat, these are really well done figures. I never picked up the Icon Hero figures based on the Karate Kid franchise, but I do have the Neca ones(and I didn’t even bother to touch the Playmate versions), and I love this one the best. Anyways, let’s dive into things and see what is going on.
Design:
The great thing about getting an action figure based on a film is having it look like the character it is based on. Diamond Select has done a tremendous job here. The karate outfit looks great, along with the head sculpt. if anything, I think Diamond may have made the figure look a little too young compared to age Kreese is on the show, but I won’t be loosing any sleep about it.
Articulation:
In terms of movement, Kreese functions pretty well. The double bends at both the elbows and knees work great. The hinges at the writ and feet work good too. He does suffer a bit from holding a kicking stand, but if you mess around with it, it can reach that goal. Diamond did a good job of including a stand for those who want to display Kreese with a kick. His upper body articulation has a nice diaphragm joint as well.
Accessories:
In terms of accessories, Kreese comes with multiple hands, a display base, flight stand, a set of sai’s, and a set of batons. The sai’s are molded in black as well as the batons. Both weapons fit into Kreese’s hands with no issues, however just be careful with the sai’s as they can fall out a bit more easily. I like the choices the Diamond Select team made, and its nice to have some additional weapons.
Jury verdict:
Overall, I had a blast taking photos of the figure. I admit I am a fan of this show and the history of the characters, so it makes it easy to enjoy. I think as a karate character Kreese works great. As a movie toy based on said movie, he does the job. A special thank you to Diamond Select for sending out. Enjoy the photos below.
