Diamond Select Toys Marvel Mysterio Gallery Diorama Review
Today in the Toyverse, we travel down the Marvel Universe and examine a Diamond Select Toys release of a mysterious super-villain giving Spider-Man and friends a major headache. And who is this super-villain with a giant fish bowl on his head? It’s the mysterious Mysterio silly, and Diamond Select has crafted another wonderful Gallery PVC. Let’s dive in and examine the statue more in depth.
The Sculpt & Design:
So looking at the Gallery piece out of the box, Mysterio instantly catches your eyes. Unless of course you are Snake Plissken, in which case it would only catch one eye. However, looking at the Gallery piece up and down, you will see some beautiful sculpting done on this thing. Starting with the base, you will see Mysterio’s green smoke effect. This effect is done in a translucent green, and has a lot of detail on it. From the smoke effects having what one can describe as tentacles, and the snake head in the front, you have plenty to look at.
Moving your eyes up to the body, and well, lots of great texture on the costume for starters. The lines that break up the costume are all sculpted, and look to have two shades of green going on with the,. Nothing on that costume looks flat or sloppy in any way. The design of the body itself is done really well also. Mysterio doesn’t look too bulky, or too lean. His overall body look suits the character very well. The gauntlets and hands look great. The hands have a nice expression, and the paint on both the hands and gauntlets are clean and sculpted well.
The cape is also very beautiful. The Mysterio eyes that make up the clasp on the cape really came out tremendous. I love the way the cape drapes over the statue, and wrinkles are really sculpted great. The choice of the color of the cape is excellent, and one of the best I have seen on any Mysterio collectible piece. The globe that makes up Mysterio’s head is awesome. It reflects light, and sits on the statue in perfect form. The pearl like color is a great choice! A hidden secret inside seems to reveal Quentin Beck, the man behind the globe. Now the globe isn’t removable, but if you look closely you can see the head inside.
Final Thoughts:
Overall, this Marvel Mysterio Gallery PVC Diorama is very cool. The details on this piece are something you see on a higher end piece, but at under 50 bucks, this Spider-Man bad guy won’t steal your wallet if your should purchase him. He commands an imposing presence on the shelf, and will make any Marvel fan happy. A special thank you to Diamond Select for sending this over, and enjoy the photos below.
