A Shocking (But Not Ectoplasmic) Good Time: HasLab’s Two in the Box Set Review
Sometimes, you open a box and realize you’ve struck ghostbusting gold. After a FedEx-induced delay, my HasLab Two in the Box set from Hasbro finally arrived, and let me tell you, it’s more fun than a Stay Puft marshmallow roast. Sure, this set has been discussed to death, but I can’t resist throwing my trap into the ring to share a few electrifying thoughts.
For me, picking this up was a no-brainer. I already snagged the Proton Pack and Neutrona Wand, so adding this to my collection was inevitable. The Ghostbusters HasLab props continue to impress with their incredible blend of affordability and jaw-dropping detail. Mass-produced items that feel like limited-edition treasures? Sign me up. The packaging was cool, but I sent it to the containment unit (a.k.a. the recycling bin). Space is a premium, folks.
The Ghost Trap: A Slam Dunk of Fun
The Ghost Trap is everything you’d want in a prop: weighty, functional, and downright fun to mess with. The lights—whether they’re glowing from inside the trap, shining on the red indicator, or lighting up the notification bar, are a visual treat. Playable? Absolutely. Displayable? You bet. With a flick of a switch, you can toggle between Ghostbusters One and Two modes, or even enjoy a demo mode featuring the eerie sounds of ghosts and ghouls. It’s practically paranormal karaoke.
The pedal? A thing of beauty. It works seamlessly with the trap and looks the part, but please, don’t Hulk-smash it. I gave it a gentle press, and it responded perfectly. The cable connection between the trap and pedal ensures smooth operation. While hardcore prop enthusiasts might nitpick, this trap is aces for casual fans and collectors alike.
The PKE Meter: Paranormal Bliss
If the Ghost Trap is the peanut butter, the PKE Meter is the jelly of this set. It’s an iconic piece of Ghostbusters gear brought to life with impressive detail and functionality. You get three modes: Movie, EMF, and Afterlife. Each is a blast, but EMF mode stands out for its interactive charm. Afterlife mode is neat, but it feels a little more limited in scope.
The PKE bars add drama, but setting them back to their original position after activating the taser mode requires a bit of finesse. Follow the instructions, and you’ll be fine. The tactile weight and vibrant lights of the meter make it a joy to use and display.
The Extras: Fan Service Done Right
HasLab went all out on the bonus items. From patches and bumper stickers to Ghostbusters key cards and belt holsters, the extras are as delightful as they are varied. The belt holsters are perfect for cosplayers, and the inclusion of the ESP cards from the first movie? Genius. They’re a small touch, but they add a lot of personality to any fan’s collection.
Final Thoughts: Worth Every Penny
This set exceeded my expectations in every way. It captures the spirit (pun intended) of Ghostbusters perfectly and offers something for fans of all levels. If you didn’t back the campaign, the secondary market is your only hope now—but be prepared to pay a premium.
