J. SCOTT CAMPELL, COMIC BOOK ARTIST EXTRAORDINAIRE, INSPIRES ALL-NEW WOMEN OF DYNAMITE: DEJAH THORIS DIORAMA STATUE
Magnificent Cold-Cast Resin Statue, Sculpted by Steve Kiwis, Available for Sale in January 2018
By popular demand, the Warlord of Mars comic book artwork of renowned comic book illustrator J. Scott Campbell serves as the inspiration for the latest Women of Dynamite statue: the Dejah Thoris Diorama Statue.
Dejah Thoris, the timeless science fiction heroine who debuted in Edgar Rice Burroughs’ 1912 serial A Princess of Mars, has long been a cornerstone of the Dynamite Entertainment brand, both as a featured character in the Warlord of Mars series and solo character in a self-titled series of comics.
Sculpted by Steve Kiwis of Rvckvs International, the Women of Dynamite: Dejah Thoris Diorama Statue is inspired by Campbell’s cover to the seminal 2010Â Warlord of Mars #1Â comic book. Measuring approximately 8.75″ in height, with a base measuring 9″ by 6.5″, this cold-cast resin statue comes with gold-colored micro-link metal chain details. This highly-detailed masterpiece in three dimensions ships in a full-color display box with a Certificate of Authenticity, individually numbered as part of a limited edition run.
J. Scott Campbell rose to stardom in the 1990s with Wildstorm’s Gen 13 and Danger Girl, co-created with Andy Hartnell. With a penchant for drawing dynamic action poses and vivacious ladies, Campbell quickly became one of the industry’s most sought-after cover artists.
Nick Barrucci, CEO and Publisher of Dynamite Entertainment, says, “The exotic beauty of Dejah Thoris – the original heroine of sci-fi/fantasy – will steal your breath away with this piece marvelously sculpted by Steve Kiwis, translated from the printed page as illustrated by my good pal, J. Scott. Our Women of Dynamite line of statues has turned quite a few heads since our debut Vampirellastatue back in 2015, and frankly, the creative team at Rvckvs International keeps upping the ante with each release. Collectors, rejoice!”
“Steve Kiwis has done a great job of bringing J. Scott Campbell’s Dejah Thoris to life,” says Jim Sullos, President of Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. “His work really embodies Edgar Rice Burroughs’ heroine. We are fortunate to have top industry talents contributing to Mr. Burroughs’ legacy.”
The Women of Dynamite: Dejah Thoris Diorama Statue, inspired by J. Scott Campbell, will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ November 2017 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, corresponding with a sale date in January 2018.
