McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse Bat-Raptor Vehicle Review

It’s time yet again to dive into McFarlane Land in the Toyverse. Yup, today we talk about the McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse Bat-Raptor Vehicle. This release from McFarlane was a bit of a surprise when it was announced. Only because it caught me completely off guard. Look the previous license holder for DC  really didn’t give us too much in vehicle form, and to start wave one off with a vehicle is refreshing. I have said since day one McFarlane Toys got this license that it was given to someone who actually cared about it, and it shows. Especially with this.  At 29 bucks and some taxes, this is worth it. But I am getting ahead of myself. Let me break down the Dark Knights Metal vehicle in a bit more detail.

Appearance:

The build of the Bat Raptor looks like it popped right of the panels of the Dark Knights Metal comic. It really is beautiful, and catches your eye right off the bat. At first glance, it does look small, but once you have Batman in the thing, it doesn’t feel small. I mean it’s not the Batmobile, but  more like if the Bat-Pod and The Tumbler made love and this plopped out. The detail on this thing really is great. Lets start with the wheels. I don’t know if its real rubber, but it feels like real rubber. Nothing about this collectible feels cheap, but your wallet will thank you. The treads have a bat like logo on them that makes it stand out. And that’s just the wheels. The hub cap and rim have a great sculpt and paint, and the batarang like look to it is neat. You have two wheels in the back, and one in the front. So its a trike with attitude.

Speaking of the front, the front has some nice dry brushing to give a banged up look, and the side front panels have a great sculpt to it. I love the look of the wires and parts that make up the front side panels. As for the cockpit area, well you have some fun stuff going in that area as well. But I also want to point out the color scheme of the black, red, and silver. Its a slick ride, and you can see why chicks dig the car.

Right before you hit the cockpit you are treated to the front features a sculpted bat logo on the vehicle. Moving on from there you get to the cockpit. And in it, you see some great sculpted pieces. Say what you will about McFarlane, but they do tend to go the extra mile. You have sculpted bat logos, you get a computer system, and you get a cool seat. I dig it, and appreciate the details inside.

To round out the Bat Raptor, I want to point out the points on the vehicle and the exhaust. The way the vehicle angles is beautiful. It feels like a Bat Vehicle, and not a gimmick. I mean it was a comic creation, but the McFarlane Toys team really did capture the look. The exhaust is big and hunky and fits into the motif of the comic it is based off of. The exhaust features a nice paint job of silver and flame style heat. Oh and before I forget, the bottom is painted. It would have been easy to skip, but McFarlane Toys went the extra step to cover that, and I really applaud the effort here on this.

 

 

 

Articulation:

So with a vehicle you would think articulation wouldn’t be a hug factor, but in the Bat Raptor’s case, articulation does play a part. Now this thing doesn’t turn into a Transformer or anything to that degree, but the design of it allows the vehicle to shift a bit. With the Bat Raptor, the driver sits lying down facing forward much like the Bat Pod.

It does look strange for a minute, but with the DC Multiverse Batman, it works really well. The figure fits in great, and because of the design, even the cape gets some air. So the cockpit itself can move forward and back into the neutral position. In addition the front that houses the front wheel extends out as well. Its a cool action feature, and gives the Raptor a bigger look. In addition to that, you get a Bat Raptor trading card which catches you up to speed.

 

 

Final Thoughts:

The Bat Raptor is a surprising hit that delivers in every way. A cool design brought to life creates a very cool collectible. I love everything about this and hopefully you will too.
