McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse Detective Comics 1000 Batman Action Figure Review

McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse Detective Comics 1000 Batman Action Figure Once again we dive back into the Toyverse and examine yet another one of McFarlane Toys offerings from the Dc Multiverse line. Up for review today courtesy of McFarlane Toys is the DC Multiverse Detective Comics 1000 Batman Action Figure. This version of the Caped Crusader is based on art from Detective Comics 1000. My initial thoughts go something like this. At 20 bucks it’s a very solid release, and worth your hard earned money. So let’s go ahead and dive right in.

Appearance:

Everyone(including myself) has an ideal image of their perfect Batman figure. Some people want old school, some people enjoy interpretations with a twist, and others enjoy the latest and coolest. This Batman figure captures all three in a good way. It has the artwork of the comic book, but a real approach in terms of body, and yet has that McFarlane flare that I can’t describe. The paint is all good on my figure. The utility belt is painted and sculpted well, and the Bat logo is great on this body. The costume itself has some great side patterns on it to break apart that grey look of the suit. Some people have complained about the headsculpt being small, and I tend to agree it is on the smaller side, it by no means hurts the figure regardless of what some may tell you. The cape is sculpted great too, and  hangs on Batman pretty good. It adds to a wonderful Batman profile on the shelf.

Articulation:

Now in terms of articulation, I will tell you straight up that at the 20 dollar price point, the articulation is pretty dang good. I can get Batman in a ton of poses. Running, jumping, kicking, and punching. Some people want this thing I think to be able to turn into a Transformer. The McFarlane Toys team blending the sculpt with articulation in a best of both worlds approach. Sure he looks good in a static pose, but he looks even better taking down bad dudes and dudettes in Gotham. His head has an impressive range of motion, and the butterfly style arm joints rock. Now the cape at times does  get a bit funky in posing, but if you play around with it you can still have the figure look great. Add in solid leg movement and ankle rockers make Batman versatile out in the streets.

Accessories and Final Thoughts:

If the sculpt and articulation were not enough, McFarlane and the gang include some fun items to set up your DC Multiverse line with. The Grappling gun looks great. The silver for the gun is clean and the sculpt looks wonderful. The rope effect is pretty cool too. I do wish personally that we ahd a second gun without the rope, but thats not a major issue. The Batarang is big, but bad guys skulls are big as well, so thats understandable. Plus I wont loose it. People have complained about this too, but there is not one size fits all look for Batman’s weapon. You also get a display base with the DC logo on it, and a cool trading card that explains what the figure is inspired from. So overall I dig that.

Overall, this Batman is a solid first release. 20 bucks goes a long way and I think McFarlane has created a strong Batman figure for a collector. Look, alot of people want to treat these things like they should be on par with expensive figures that range between 60 to 150 dollars and I think that is not fair. McFarlane Toys getting the DC license was one of the best announcements I have ehard. Its right up there with the moon landing.  Every figure I have touched in this line feel special and one of a kind, and this Batman is no different. So sample him out if you can find him because it’s worth it.
