McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse Wildcat (JSA) Gold Label – Does This Fighter Pack a Punch?
The latest contender in the DC Multiverse ring is none other than Wildcat, the scrappy, old-school boxer with a knack for throwing down. McFarlane Toys delivers this Gold Label release with all the grit and determination you’d expect from Ted Grant himself. But does this figure stand tall, or is it down for the count? Let’s step into the ring and find out.
First Impressions – A Fighter’s Spirit
Right out of the package, Wildcat looks the part. Standing at 7 inches tall with McFarlane’s signature Ultra Articulation, he’s ready to move, pose, and throw some jabs. Based on his Golden Age comic roots, this version sticks to his classic form: sleek, simple, and built for battle.
Sculpt & Design – A Knockout or Just a Jab?
The head sculpt is one of this figure’s standout features. The sculpting captures that seasoned fighter look: tough, focused, and ready to rumble. From both the front and side profiles, McFarlane nailed it. The bandaged hands add a level of detail that really sells Wildcat’s brawler persona. The sculpted wraps look sharp, giving the figure an extra layer of authenticity.
Body – Standard, but Effective
If you’ve handled a McFarlane figure before, you know what to expect. The body sculpt is solid, though some collectors might have wanted a bulkier, more imposing Wildcat. That said, it works. The white paint accents are a bold idea, but they don’t quite hit the mark.
Posability – Ready to Rumble
McFarlane’s 22 points of articulation give Wildcat plenty of range for fighting stances and dynamic poses. Whether he’s delivering a knockout punch or dodging an attack, he holds his own.
Accessories – A Little Light
For a fighter, you’d think Wildcat would come with some extra gear—alternate hands, maybe even some training gloves. Instead, he only includes the collectible art card and display stand. While these are expected in the DC Multiverse line, a few more extras would have elevated the experience.
Final Verdict – A Solid Contender
Wildcat is a welcome addition to any JSA fan’s collection, but he isn’t necessarily a showstopper. The head sculpt, hand details, and articulation are definite wins, but a bulkier build and more accessories would have packed a stronger punch.
