McFarlane Toys My Hero Academia Ochaco Uraraka Figure Review
Today in the Toyverse, I suit up, and head to school. However, this school features superheros in training. That’s right, today we look at the McFarlane Toys My Hero Academia Ochaco Uraraka figure. And before we dive deep inside this IP, I want to take the time to thank McFarlane Toys for sending this over for review today. As I look at the final figure in wave two, I have to say I can’t wait to see what series three has to offer. Once again I will point out, that before holding these action figures, I know very little of the franchise. After reviewing these figures, I have a better appreciation of the IP. So let me cut the chatter, and let’s explore Ochaco Uraraka and she how she stacks up.
Appearance:
Ochaco Uraraka is a very beautifully drawn character. The artwork also translates very well to animation. But in figure form, her appearance is stunning. McFarlane Toys has really outdid themselves on this sculpt. I can honestly say out of the three figures in wave two, she has the nest sculpt for me. She looks amazing in plastic form. the colors really pop on the plastic. The color pallet of pink and black, combined with the flesh tones and hair, catch your eye immediately. Her eyes and face look really good, and overall the figure has quite the presence to it. One of the details I really love is the detail on the inside of her hands that showcase her powers. It’s a little detail that can be overlooked, but one that I am happy to report that McFarlane Toys did not skip out on.
Articulation:
Now in terms of articulation, Ochaco has some pretty solid articulation. Her head can rotate side to side, and looks up and down.Ochaco’s upper body has two diaphragm joints. At the upper level it can go side to side with no problem. It can also go forwards and backwards. At the lower portion of the upper body, the figure does the same. However with the lower section, it gives you a waist twist as well. For her arms, Ochaco has the butterfly joints we have seen with every release so far. It gives an amazing level of articulation at a great price point. It can go up and down, and forwards and backwards. Her biceps feature a cut, that allows for rotation. Her elbows feature a double bend, and her wrists allow the hands to rotate, and go up and down. Her lower body has legs that kick forwards and backwards, and have double bends at the knees. Due to the sculpt of the figure, some of the articulation isn’t there, but besides the articulation junkies screaming for there fix, you can still have loads of fun with her posing wise.
Accessories:
Now in terms of bonus items packed in with Ochaco Uraraka, McFarlane Toys packed in a few great things. For starters we get a McFarlane flight stand. This stand serves a base and helps showcase the characters powers. These flight stands are nice and sturdy, and house the figure safely and securely. Another great thing about them is that they don’t take up a ton of space, which is always nice. Another set of accessories is the alternate hands that the figure comes packed with. Her standard hands are an open hand and a fist, and the second set are her power hands that feature the detail on the inside of them that I spoke of earlier. For the final accessory, Ochaco Uraraka comes with an alternate head. All you need to do is unplug the hair, and plug in the the helmeted head. As for the piece itself, it’s done really good. the hair looks great inside, and the plastic shield looks solid on the figure. Overall for less then twenty bucks, i can’t complain. There are enough items to make the figure a ton of fun.
Final Verdict:
So how does Ochaco Uraraka stack up with her fellow figures from wave two? The short answer is she soars very high. She has a very eye catching appeal to her on the shelf or in a toy photo. She to me is the best figure of the wave two. And that is saying a lot because no figure in this wave is bad. It’s rare that you have that happen in any toy company, but this wave had some very good pieces. As this line continues to grow, it has me as a collector looking forward to seeing what McFarlane puts out next. Pick this whole wave up if you are a fan of cool figures, because it’s worth your hard earned money. Just one more point I wanted to add. I enjoyed these so much, that I went back and chased down wave one. Thats how impressed I was by this line. Enjoy the pictures, and thank you once again to McFarlane Toys for allowing me to sample an amazing set of figures.
