Appearance:
Articulation:
I am happy to report that with a beautiful sculpt, comes really great articulation. This figure line does a tremendous job of balancing articulation and sculpt. The head can look down and up, as well as rotate. The arms have a butterfly joint that allow for a really amazing range of motion. Shoto has a bicep cut,ad double jointed elbows. The hands feature a ball hinge that allows up and down, and side to side movement. The upper body is built on the endoskeleton articulation. The sculpt gets saved this way, and being honest, the figure moves in a more natural way. The lower body has legs that can not only rotate, but can do the splits, and go forwards and backwards. The knees are double jointed, and the feet have some fun things going on. The feet can rock side to side, go up and down, and have a beautiful toe hinge on them. Overall, the articulation works wonderfully.
Accessories:
Now as for extras that are packed in, Shoto has quite a bit. To represent his powers, he has two beautiful effect. the first is the ice effect. It fits into the hand like a glove. Once you have it on his fist, it looks really cool, and yes pun intended! The detail on this thing is great too. Some dry brushing on the top of the ice effect over the transparent blue works great on this piece. The flame effect is a nice transparent color as well, but instead of blue, its an orange red flame color, that looks great. In addition to that, you get a pair of gripping hands. And to round out the bonus items, you get a display stand with the IP stamped on it. So for 20 bucks, I don’t see a reason to complain. It’s a super fair amount of items.
Final Verdict:
Overall, this guy was a ton of fun to play with. He has such a great amount of articulation, it’s fun to get the guy in different poses. Once again, I will say that he looks like he jumped off the page and into plastic form. McFarlane Toys continues to showcase there skills in tremendous form. I am truly blown away that this figure is priced out at under 20 bucks. From the accessories to the sculpt, and to the articulation, Shoto excels in great form. If you see him pick him up. He is going to look great on your shelf, and he will look great in pictures. Enjoy the photos and stay tuned for the next review.
