McFarlane Toys Spawn The Clown Deluxe Box Set Figure Review
Today in the Toyverse I switch things up a bit, and give you a photo review of the new deluxe Clown figure from McFarlane Toys Spawn line of action figure. This marks the first time I have ever purchased a clown action figure, and I have to say he is pretty solid. So let’s dive in and examine the figure a bit more in depth.
The Design:
The look of the figure is pretty fantastic. You look at it right away and know that this is the Clown character from the Spawn comics. The head sculpt is creepy yet familiar. The sculpted hair is nice, and the clown face paint is done really well. The jacket has spike and painted zippers, which is cool. The ammo belt that goes across his chest is sculpted well, but is non removable. The striped shirt is painted well, and the round frame of Clown is on point. The pouches on his belt are sculpted and painted great, and the pants and books are done really well. Overall I enjoy the look of this guy.
The Articulation:
In terms of articulation, Clown actually works really well for a big guy. The head gets all the movement you need out of it. The upper body is all one piece and moves okay. Some idiots will complain, but it doesn’t break up the sculpt, so it doesn’t bother me. The arms move pretty good, but some of the interchangeable hands don’t stay on. What has been the most surprising is the movement in the legs. They been back quite a bit, and have thigh swivel at the hips, which is an added bonus. The feet don’t move as well as I would like, but it doesn’t deter me from enjoying the figure.
The Accessories:
So let’s talk about the bonus items. You get a set of interchangeable hands that can be used in a variety of ways. He comes with a knife, and a razor blade. How you use these items, is up to your imagination. Clown also comes with a Mcfarlane base. However the big item is this heavy artillery gun backpack. Its massive and intense. It plugs right into the figures back. It has a wonderful sculpt to it, and is articulated. I will say the design is nice, but its just a massive item that weighs down the figure. However, it still kicks ass!
Final Thought:
I dig the figure quite a bit. The design is cool, its a fun figure, and it’s nice to have my Spawn have some bad dudes to mambo with. The gun pack thing is a cool concept, but it kind of takes away from a wonderful figure. However, dont sleep on this guy because he is still worth it. He is the perfect figure to clown around with.
