Today in the Toyverse, we travel to a far off land and celebrate a figure that immediately sold out fast, and then was added back in with a later release date. That later release date brings us to today. Originally a Mezco Con exclusive, this House of Golden Skulls Gold Ninja is quite popular within the Mezco community. He poses cool, and if you can fork out the extra cash, you can create a nice amount of army building. So with the backstory set in motion, let’s dive in and examine the figure a bit more in depth.
As for the look and design of this figure is concerned, he is a ninja, a ninja in a black gi. The design of the gi is something we have seen from quite a few Mezco releases with this theme, but it still looks great. The material feels thick yet soft. It doesn’t hinder movement and has a nice look to it. The gi straps look great and do not get in the way at all. The arm and knee guards are a softer gummy like plastic that blend into the gi with ease. The head is a skull we have seen before, just with the gold paint applied. The only thing I want to point out is that the gi does attract dust and particles. Its nothing major, but something I wanted to say.
As for the articulation, this Golden Skull moves pretty fluid. You can pose this guy in pretty much any way you want. You want to capture a ninja mid air in a crazy twist? This figure can do it! You want a figure that can hold a sword at a 75 degree angle with a double bent elbow? Once again, this figure can do it. You want a figure that can showcase being a five time National Karate Champion and snap a neck? Yup, this figure has you covered. I overall cannot complain about the movement with this skull. Anyone who wants a cool display shot, or a cool toy photo shot, will have fun pulling that off with this figure.
As for what the figure comes packed with, well he is loaded with some fun items.
- One (1) head portraits
- Eight (8) interchangeable hands
- One (1) pair of fists (L&R)
- One (1) pair of posing hands (L&R)
- One (1) pair of sword holding hands (L&R)

- One (1) gun holding hand (R)

So to translate, he comes with a ton of ninja goodies that I pray to God I don’t loose. Each of the weapons look good, and he holds them with ease. The gold smoke plum effect is also a nice touch.
Overall, I dig the figure a lot. How can you not dig a ninja with Golden Skull? The truth is, I don’t have a counter argument why you wouldn’t want a figure like this. Mezco’s own brand of figures continue to impress and create buzz. they also continue to be a perfect break from the world of licensed IP’s that everyone is gobbling up. If you want to pick this up, you can try to get one at cost on the wait list, or you can try the secondary market.
