Mezco Toyz One:12 Collective John Wick Chapter 2 JOHN WICK Action Figure Review
Today I finally get the courage to talk about the One:12 Collective John Wick Chapter 2: John Wick figure. This figure has created a storm of anger, disappointment, and regret with many collectors, however, I honestly don’t find it to be horrible. I honestly feel this is a case of a figure being built up to an unattainable level by fans. Is it perfect? No, but it does have more positives than negatives. So let’s dive in and see what this bad boy is all about.
The Body:
So for many fans of Mezco, the body that John Wick sits on is one they want gone. I don’t really care one way or another, but I do understand the frustration. I will say that the clothing on this guy is overall pretty good. The suit looks nice and has it’s own style to it. The dark blue undershirt and black vest look sharp. The tie on the other hand isn’t horrible, but not amazing either. The shoes have a nice black to them and the flesh tones look great.
Now we come to the part of the article where I talk about the heads John Wick is packed in with. The first sculpt is a standard slick back hair look for John Wick. I really don’t care for this one. I don’t think it captures the actor’s look. The second one however, is a battle damaged head. I think this head is more on point for John Wick. I love the battle damage look, and it really fits the character quite well.
Now as far as articulation goes, John Wick is in some ways a bit limited. However with a little patience, and with some tenderness, you can pose the guy around. A lot of folks were angry about the lack of double jointed elbows, but for this reviewer, this has never been a make or break for me. As for the upper body, you get a diaphragm and rotation at the lower waist. The knees are double jointed, and the foot has rocker action going on with it. Overall it’s not too bad, but the coat does hinder some points of movement.
The Accessories:
Now in terms of what John Wick is packed in with, well Mr. Wick really shines. So many weapons to choose from for starters. Multiple hand guns and ammo clips for them start things off. One point of contention for people is the lack of gun movement and being able to switch out clips, but I’m not loosing sleep over it. He also has a knife and four military style grenades that are pretty cool as well. In terms of more heavy firepower, John Wick comes packed with two different shotguns, and an assault rifle. The nice thing about the rifle is the addition of ammo clips that are removable. Also included are three muzzle effects that can plug into all variety of guns and a gun clip that John uses. So if you want John Wick to be battle ready, Mezco made sure to give you enough goodies.
Another cool pack in the John Wick war chest. This item has a ncie sculpt and paint design to it that looks great. However, what is inside the chest is really cool. You can use this item to store all of Wick’s weapons which is cool. I was able to fit everything John comes packed with, so that is nice. It has two top drawers that house the hand guns, grenades, ammo clips, and knife. The other drawer holds the assassin currency. Mezco went the extra mile and included a ton of coins to help John Wick get the items he needs. Also included are several sets of hands, his new dog, a watch, and the standard Mezco base, stand, and bag.
Overall, John Wick’s release was a solid one from Mezco Toyz. I think for the price, you get a lot of bang for your buck which is cool. I know the figure didn’t live up to everyone’s standards, but I am happy with it. I am very thrilled to have him in my collection, and hopefully you are too. Enjoy the photo’s and until we meet again, stay safe!
