Mezco Toyz One:12 Collective Krig The Black Spartan Figure Review
Today in the Toyverse, we travel into the world of Mezco Toyz Exclusives, and examine the Krig: The Black Spartan figure that was part of the Mezco Toy Fair 2021 box set. This figure previously saw a release in red overseas, that collectors try to grab harder than toilet paper during the pandemic. Let’s dive in and examine the hype surrounding the Black edition of this figure.
The Design:
Looking over at this latest member of the Ruble Society, you might notice he looks a bit familiar. Well that is because he shares some parts from Cable. Gone are those blues and greys, and just like Batman, it gets a paint coat done in black. The armor design still works great, and really makes this figure cool. The light up features still look cool, and the removable helmet reveals the face of the hunter. The design on this head is part anime, part futuristic, and it balances out the figure quite nice.
The Articulation:
In terms of articulation, Krig moves pretty well all things considered. The light up armor does not hinder body movement too much. The arms go in and out, and up and down with no real issue. The shoulder pads can be shifted, to allow for more movement. You get double bends at the elbows and knees, and rotation at the hands and feet. The only area where the movement is not as free flowing is the head. Due to the light up feature at the head, you don’t get the most dynamic of movement. However, it doesn’t bother me too much.
The Accessories:
As for bonus items, The Black Spartan does come packed in with some neat items. Two new blast effects for the guns the Krig comes with are a nice touch. The sickle style weapon is very cool, but not as cool as the effect that attaches on to it. It is a jolly rancher pink effect and it came out great. You get a poncho that looks great, multiple hands, multiple ammo packs, handguns, and rifle. All of these help make the Krig a really cool addition to the toy shelf.
Final Thoughts:
Overall, this figure is a nice addition to world of the Rumble Society. He looks cool, he has a cool gimmick with the lights, and he is imposing. The Black Spartan is a special concept that is executed into figure form pretty amazingly. Any fan of the Rumble Society would be doing themselves a disservice by not having it into their collection. This version is now on a wait list from Mezco Toyz, but if you et on it, it might convert, so don’t be a fool and pay after market prices. Enjoy the photos below.
