⛓️ TWO NEW MINISERIES—BLACK RITUAL: THE BOOK OF NYX & MEDIEVAL SPAWN—LAUNCH THIS APRIL

Todd McFarlane Productions will expand the Spawn Universe this April with two all-new miniseries published by Image Comics, Black Ritual: The Book of NYX and Medieval Spawn. These thrilling new stories will dive into the mysterious pasts of two fan-favorite characters from the Spawn Universe and offer readers a deeper look into their origins, decisions, and destinies.

Black Ritual: The Book of NYX will be a seven-part series—written by Spawn Editor-in-Chief, Thomas Healy, drawn by returning Spawn artist Nat Jones—and reunites readers with fan-favorite Nyx. Known for her complex relationship with Al Simmons as an ally, enemy, and the first She-Spawn, Nyx’s story has been shrouded in mystery—until now. Readers will finally get to experience Nyx’s journey from her disappearance to her current reign as the Queen of Hell. This series promises to delve into her past, present, and future as she grapples with the consequences of her choices and seeks redemption by aiding The Lost Coven.

“Nyx, to me, has always been a character with more story to tell. She has mostly been a side character, even now, reigning as the Queen of Hell,” said Healy. “So, when Nat approached us about doing a new book focused on her, I knew I wanted to be involved. The reader will see how her story continued after Spawn #184. Where she went, what she did, and how those ‘lost years’ have helped shape the current Spawn Universe.”

Meanwhile, Medieval Spawn finally sheds light on the untold origins of one of the most enigmatic characters in the Spawn Universe. This four-part miniseries—written by Rory McConville and drawn by artist Marco Itri—chronicles the brutal adventures of Sir Jon of York, a savage warrior in a treacherous world of dragons, wizards, and monsters. Before being pulled into the far future, Medieval Spawn carved a bloody path across history, leaving behind enemies who would haunt him for centuries. Medieval Spawn invites fans on an epic journey through a dark and deadly landscape filled with magic and mayhem.

“Medieval Spawn occupies a legendary place in the Spawn Universe, so it’s been a real thrill to delve into his life before coming to the present day,” said McConville. “I can’t wait for readers to see Marco’s stunning art, as we explore one of Sir Jon’s greatest battles—and unearth his darkest secret.”

Both Black Ritual: The Book of NYX and Medieval Spawn deliver 24 pages of captivating storytelling and stunning artwork, all for just $3.99 per issue. These standalone miniseries are a perfect entry point for new readers while giving longtime fans fresh insights into two of the Spawn Universe’s most underexplored characters. With McFarlane’s continued commitment to high-quality comics at industry-defying prices, these series are essential additions to any comic book collection.
