Act 4 Publishing & Skybound Reveal First Look at Mike Mignola’s Hellboy in Hell Book 2 Artist’s Edition

Skybound and Image Comics, in partnership with Scott Dunbier’s Act 4 Publishing, revealed an exclusive art preview from Mike Mignola’s Hellboy in Hell Book 2 Artist’s Edition. Experience Mike Mignola’s haunting artistry as it was originally drawn, presented in full artboard size in this Artist’s Edition, arriving March 25, 2026.

Mike Mignola is the critically acclaimed creator of the beloved, demonic hero Hellboy and remains one of the preeminent comics creators of the modern era. His career was already firmly established for his outstanding work on characters like Batman, Dr. Strange, Wolverine, a myriad of beautiful covers… and then came Hellboy. Mignola’s iconic creation struck an immediate chord with fans and hasn’t abated in the 30-plus years since the character’s debut.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to know and occasionally work with Mike Mignola for decades,” said Scott Dunbier. “His beautiful art, stunning power of contrast, and magnificent story telling abilities continue to mesmerize with everything he does. If there was such a thing as a printed ‘Ted Talk,’ this book would be it.”

Featuring over 180 pages, this Artist’s Edition collects the concluding five issues of Hellboy in Hell, issues #6-10, as well as many covers and illustrations in their glorious raw state. In addition, the book features an introduction by renowned comics artist and designer of the original Hellboy logo, Kevin Nowlan, as well as an afterword by veteran comics and animation artist Steve Purcell, offering personal insights into the legacy of Hellboy.

An Artist’s Edition is an art book disguised as a comic collection. Although appearing to be in black and white, all the art is scanned in color, enabling the reader to see the work as close to the original as possible – ink gradients, blue pencil, and all the unique nuances that make original art so special – are all clearly visible and printed at the same size as drawn. The only better way to experience these pages is by looking at the artist’s drawing board, as they’re drawing.

Mike Mignola’s Hellboy in Hell Book 2 Artist’s Edition is the latest chapter of the groundbreaking releases from the Act 4 Publishing and Skybound partnership. The previously announced releases include titles released in late 2025 (Jim Aparo’s DC Classics Artist’s Edition) and throughout 2026 (The Amazing Spider-Man by Steve Ditko Artist’s Edition, Darwyn Cooke’s The Complete Spirit Connoisseur Edition, George Pérez’s The New Teen Titans Artist’s Edition and Wally Wood’s EC Stories Artist’s Edition–EXPANDED).

Other releases within the publishing partnership include J. Scott Campbell’s Danger Girl Artist Edition, Dave Stevens’ Covers and Stories’ Connoisseur Edition, Jason Pearson’s Body Bags Artist’s Edition, Paul Smith’s Leave It to Chance Artist’s Edition.
