Avenger (New Blood) #1 Earns National Recognition at 2024 NCS Awards

The National Cartoonists Society has named Jeff Austin (inker) and Phil Miller (penciler) as finalists in the 2024 NCS Divisional Awards for their exceptional work on Avenger (New Blood) #1, published by independent imprint Lenovations Press.

Austin and Miller’s nomination, announced this week, places them among the top comic book artists in the nation. Their dynamic collaboration brought the revived golden-age character The Avenger to life in a modern, action-packed retelling. Avenger (New Blood) #1 reimagines a 1950s-era superhero for today’s audience, combining retro charm with a modern sensibility. It tells the story of Rica Roberts as she uncovers her grandfather’s secret life as a costumed hero’s sidekick.

The winners of the 2024 NCS Divisional Awards will be announced at the prestigious Reuben Awards Weekend in Boston later this year.
