2019 Awesome Con Fan Survey

The conundrum with doing a roll-up for a con like Awesome con is how to organize your thoughts in a way that makes sense and that does it justice. I was really struggling… until I received this nifty little survey in my e-mail.Â Which is almost perfect to give feedback. Here’s the thing I have some of the comments not just from myself but 3 other attendees as well. Someone that this was their 1st time to a comic-con (the rookie), someone who goes to events to cosplay and listen to panels (Jazz)Â and a 9 year old (the grommet) So lets get to it.

Let“s start with a little about the show overall”¦

1. Did you have fun at Awesome Con this year?

(Rookie): No

Jazz: Yes

Grommet: Yes

2. Overall, how satisfied were you with Awesome Con this year?

Rookie: Not at all satisfied

Jazz: fairly Satisfied

Grommet: umm…what does satisfied mean?

3. How likely is it that you would recommend Awesome Con to a friend or colleague?

Rookie: (Did not answer)

Jazz: It all depends on what kind of stuff they have next year.

Grommet: Can I bring my friend next year?

4. Did you have any problems at Awesome Con this year?

Rookie: Screenings and panels ? I didn’t even know there were other things happening on the other floors!

Jazz: Food was expensive so we went outside to grab something to eat.Â By the time we got done walking the green mile and eating we didn’t feel like coming back.

Grommet: (Probably knows better than to complain)

5. Have you attended Awesome Con before?

(Rookie): No, This was my first time!

(Jazz): No, This was my first time!

(Grommet): No, This was my first time!

7. Considering the cost of the ticket, how would you rate the event in terms of value for money?

(Writers comments:) This is where things get a little dicey, because it all depends on what you went to Awesome con to accomplish.

The Rookie: Was enticed by the gallery of Celebrity guest, such as Gates McFadden, Brent Spiner, and Jonathon Frakes (She’s a trekkie). She was unimpressed by their booths, they were tucked away in the back of the con. She also felt disappointed because they didn’t look like how she remembered them (not the con’s fault in my opinion).Â She saw the tickets for the VIP and Club packages, and was ready to buy them, until someone explained that the “fast passes” only puts you further in the front of the line and doesn’t get you a photo or an autograph.Â The Cosplay was was something she was looking forward to but felt like there was more vendors than Cosplay people there giving it a commercialized atmosphere.Â Poor Value

Jazz: The value didn’t seem to be an issue but she did scoff at the cost photo and autograph.Average value

Grommet: Mommy and Daddy paid for everything (so no complaints).

9. With whom did you attend Awesome Con this year?

Rookie :Alone

Jazz: Friends

Grommet: Family

10. Did you dress up at Awesome Con?

Rookie :(She says no, but I think she’s lying)

Jazz: Yes, I came in costume!(Riverdale)

Grommet: No!

Final Comments:Â The only missing was a strong gaming element.Â There were some classic game stand-in but nothing from current day gaming to get excited about.

Every day I logged in aboutÂ 6,ooo steps walking around the convention floor (it was about 2,000 just to get to the actual exhibit floor) trying to make sure I engaged with as many people as I could…for three days, and it was not enough to get to everybody.

The Batman Exhibit was a hit and had some really good stuff.

But the hottest ticket on the floor was Wild Bill’s Root Beer:Â So the deal was is that you paid for the cup and the rest of the day the root beer was free (self serve). There were two stations on the opposite end of the halls but there were still long lines.Â When you consider that some of the vendors were charging $8 and up it was a heck of a deal. However a top to secure the contents would have been nice. also if the stations wasÂ little closer to the food center would have been boss.

The CGC Booth:Â I have never been to a con where the line to grade your books wasn’t horrendous.Â Not so at Awesome con.Â Probably because this con wasn’t as comic creator focused as others, but still I was shocked when I just walked right up and got it done. Heck even the certified witness for signings was available.Â That alone made the whole trip worth it.

Ghostbusters Tri-state Division

The Ghostbusters of the Tri-State organization is a nonprofit organization and official Ghost Corps Franchise dedicated to help women who have been the victims of domestic violence.

When supporting local charity events, the Ghostbusters of the Tri-State set up tables that include displays of Ghostbuster-themed memorabilia and other related merchandise that attendees can purchase.

The Philadelphia Avengers

The Philadelphia Avengers is a tri-state based cosplay group who came together for their love of cosplay, charity work and promoting the importance of cospositivity and anti-bullying. They have cosplayed for hospitals, schools, children“s charities, shelters and where it all began for the founder“s comic cons. There first con guest appearance as a group was 2016 at the Pocono Comic Expo where they participated in panels, the cosplay contest and most importantly interacting with all the attendees which to them is the best part, hoping to inspire others. The group is known for their love of comics and movies and often uses this to make fun video shorts are many of their events which can be found on their facebook page where they would love for everyone to join the fun. The group also tries to find fun and creative ways to incorporate cosplay into fundraisers for children charities, veterans, medical research to combat cancer and other illnesses.
