Black-Owned Comic Publisher Godhood Comics launches Media Conglomerate!

Godhood Comics has announced a new extension of their company, dedicated to adapting their intellectual property and that of their imprints, Wise Acre Comics and Punch Publishing, into various forms of media, including television, film, animation, and gaming. This strategic move allows Godhood Comics to retain control of their intellectual property and bring their captivating stories to a wider audience.

Godhood Comics has gained national attention since its inception for its innovative and high-quality comics, stories, and characters. Setting a new standard for independent comic books. The company’s unwavering commitment to exceptional storytelling, captivating art, and top-notch production quality has garnered praise from comic book enthusiasts, producers, and entertainers, making it a favorite in its industry.

The inspiration behind Godhood Media Group came after “The Antagonists,” one of Godhood Comics’ most successful books featuring a family of supervillains, was picked up for adaptation by Hollywood Production Company Braham Entertainment in 2022. Frustrated by broken promises and the lack of progress, Tyler F. Martin, the founder, and creator of the series, vowed to never relinquish control of his intellectual property again to producers or companies with no immediate resolve. Thus, Godhood Media Group was born.

“Godhood Media Group goes beyond simply producing BIPOC content,” founder and creator Tyler F. Martin said. “The company is committed to making it right, making it better, and making it often. In an industry like Hollywood, where these three aspects are often prioritized separately, Godhood Media Group aims to value them all.”

In addition to this, one of the profound goals of the company is to empower other creators by offering them funding, resources, and connections to scale their intellectual properties for adaptation. Godhood Media Group believes in giving creators the opportunity to maintain 100% control over their intellectual properties while providing the necessary support for their success.

Martin also highlighted the challenges faced by BIPOC storytellers in Hollywood.

“The current members-only business model often prioritizes connections over the quality of the content. As a result, some projects receive substantial funding based on personal relationships, leading to movies like “The American Society of Magical Negroes.” Godhood Media Group aims to be the voice of the unconnected, supporting talented individuals who are telling amazing stories despite their limited resources and networks.”

To support their expansion plans and raise funding Godhood Media Group will be launching an investment campaign on August 1st, 2024. Through the Wefunder platform, thousands of Godhood Comics supporters will have the opportunity to contribute to the publisher’s first public investment round.
