BRZRKR: The Bleeding Tide #1 Review
BRZRKR: The Bleeding Tide #1 doesn’t just splash back onto the sceneit cannonballs into the ocean, explodes on impact, and rises from the deep like an immortal Taino sea god who just realized someone touched his leftovers. This one-shot throws B into the wildest situation yet: locked in a metal coffin, dropped to the bottom of the ocean, and rediscovered like the world’s angriest pirate-themed Happy Meal toy.
The Captain who rescues him? Oh, she’s a PROBLEM. The good kind. The “swinging an axe like she’s late for an interdimensional appointment” kind. She and B link up not through romance but through straight-up violence fluencythe kind where every punch, slash, and skull-cracking moment says, “Yeah, I get you, fam.”
Marjorie Liu writes this issue like she’s mixing myth, madness, and marinaramessy, flavorful, and unforgettable. Garry Brown’s art hits with that gritty, grimy texture that makes every panel feel like you gotta wipe the blood off your screen before your mom walks by. Heads blowing off? Check. Bodies split in half? Check. Axe-work smoother than a salsa dance? Double check.
But the real juice? The vibe between B and the Captain. It’s intense without ever getting corny. It’s destiny without the Hallmark nonsense. It’s two unstoppable beings realizing: “Yo, you weird too. Bet. Let’s roll.” Her secret reveal fits the BRZRKR universe perfectly, sliding into place like fate dusted with saltwater and supernatural drama.
And that ending? BRUH. BRUHHHHH. Classic BRZRKR energyhalf frustration, half hype, all gas. You finish the issue like, “Oh nah… run me the next one IMMEDIATELY.”
So yeahif you want a comic full of ocean-soaked insanity, mythic madness, boss-level axe murders, and immortal attitude, The Bleeding Tide #1 is a must-grab. BRZRKR stays BRZRKR’ing, and we are 100% here for it.
