BURBANK: COLLECTED ISSUES VOLUME 1 A Sci-Fi Graphic Novel with a Time-Traveling SoCal Dad
Now available for the first time ever, Burbank: Collected Issues Volume 1 combines two rare comic books into one graphic novel with variant covers and additional artwork.
What would you do if you had a time machine in your garage? Would you place some bets with a sports almanac, uncover the mysteries of Roswell, or watch Jackie Robinson play in Brooklyn? The possibilities are endless, and BURBANK, a thrilling new sci-fi adventure comic series, explores them all with humor, heart, and high-stakes adventure.
Written by the UltraRare creative team of Graham Robertson and Justin Fisher, the BURBANK Comic Series blends the lighthearted feel of 1980s classics like Raiders of the Lost Ark and Back to the Future with a fresh, modern twist. This instant sci-fi classic has been brought to life through the incredible illustrations and coloring by relative newcomers Ademir Leal and Rafael Badalyan with covers by industry heavyweights Jason Masters and Sebastian Cheng.
BURBANK is the story of an ordinary man doing the extraordinary. The series follows Rock Williams, a time-traveling African American dad who balances work, family life, and extraordinary adventures through time. Think Indiana Jones meets Doctor Who, with a dash of Magnum P.I. Rock has a time machine in his garage, and he uses it to explore the exciting events in the past and future—but things rarely go as planned. Whether he’s settling a bet, unraveling Cold War-era Soviet spy plots, or just trying to make it back home for dinner, Rock’s escapades are packed with humor, heart, and plenty of surprises.
In Burbank: Collected Issues Volume 1, we meet Rock Williams, who stumbled upon a time machine at age six in the 1850s and accidentally jumped to 1981. Rescued and raised by Clay Williams, Rock spent years trying to rebuild the ship. Now a father himself, he finally gets the machine working again with the help of a futuristic power supply from a mysterious traveler named Gower. When Rock’s best friend Josh discovers the time machine, their first adventure takes them to see Star Wars on opening day at Mann’s Chinese Theatre in 1977—and that’s just the beginning.
WHY TIME TRAVEL? WHY NOW?
Why would Rock risk everything— his business, friends, and family? Because time travel is addictive, thrilling, dangerous, and ultimately impossible to resist. BURBANK captures the fun and excitement of time travel in a way we haven’t seen since Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure while incorporating more modern classics like End Game and Hot Tub Time Machine. It’s a fresh take on a beloved genre that reminds us why we fell in love with time travel stories in the first place. With its unique blend of comedy, adventure, and heartfelt storytelling, BURBANK is a must-read for fans of sci-fi and action-adventure alike.
