Solar Sisters Blasts Off! Papercutz Announces Cosmic Graphic Novel About Stardom, Viral Fame & Family
From Amit Tishler and Elliot Sperl: A Washed-Up Moon Child Star, an Accidental Alien Influencer, and a Family Resort on the Brink
Get ready to launch into orbit because Papercutz and Mad Cave Studios are turning up the volume on cosmic comedy with SOLAR SISTERS, a dazzling all-ages original graphic novel bursting with humor, heart, and interstellar chaos. The story comes from The Last Warden writers Amit Tishler and Elliot Sperl, with vibrant artwork by Virginia Salucci (Tales of Vulcania), brilliant colors by Giulia Zucca, and dynamic lettering from award-winning letterer Taylor Esposito.
At the center of the story is Phoebe Dust, a former child star whose spotlight faded as quickly as it arrived. Growing up on the Moon might sound glamorous, but Phoebe’s reality is anything but. When she discovers her mom’s once-buzzing lunar tourist attraction, The Lunar Link, is drowning in debt and about to shut its airlocks for good, she knows something drastic has to happen.
So Phoebe does what any determined dreamer would do—she cooks up a plan to save the family business.
There’s just one tiny problem.
Her plan accidentally launches her alien sister Luna into galaxy-wide superstardom.
Suddenly the Lunar Link isn’t quiet anymore. It’s packed wall-to-wall with tourists chasing the newest cosmic celebrity. Fame explodes overnight, the spotlight burns hotter than a solar flare, and the galaxy’s most ruthless influencer—Nova Starr—is watching from the shadows, ready to snatch the spotlight back by any means necessary.
Now Phoebe has to juggle fame, fortune, jealous rivals, and the chaos of viral celebrity before everything she loves gets blasted into stardust.
Reflecting on the themes at the center of the book, Amit Tishler shared:
“Solar Sisters holds a special place in my heart. Every character in our story struggles to find a healthy balance between self-fulfillment and sacrifice, which is a particularly poignant struggle for anyone working in the arts. This adventure is optimistic, colorful, and wholesome, with its characters and world inspiring the production of an entire galaxy of creations. With an original graphic novel, tabletop game, and K-POP EP already on the way, the Solar Sisters universe is going to be absolutely stellar (pun most certainly intended).”
“We created Solar Sisters to inspire others with a scifi roller-coaster ride that takes our readers over the moon, across the Kuiper Belt, and back,” co-writer Elliot Sperl added. Juggling elements of slapstick humor, family drama, and over-the-top action, this spacefaring adventure explores what it means to be true to yourself through the telescopic lens of our star-studded cast. It may not be down-to-Earth, but we think this story about a ragtag family and their adopted alien daughter aims high and will hopefully hit home for everyone. After all, it’s not rocket science…just a tale as old as space-and-time.”
Solar Sisters mixes colorful sci-fi worldbuilding with a sharp and hilarious take on celebrity culture. It’s a story about ambition, identity, family, and figuring out who you are when the whole universe suddenly knows your name. Packed with humor, heart, and cosmic-sized stakes, the book channels the bright energy of The Mitchells vs. the Machines, the musical pop punch of K-Pop Demon Hunters, and the heartfelt sci-fi spirit of Sanity & Tallulah. The result is an unforgettable adventure perfect for middle-grade readers—and just as fun for older fans who love clever, character-driven sci-fi.
But the Solar Sisters universe doesn’t stop at the graphic novel.
The project is blasting into a full multimedia experience with Nova Starr: Solar Cyclone, an original K-Pop EP produced by Amit Tishler alongside composer Alon Kaplan (Lost In Play). Fans will also be able to jump into the action themselves with Stardom: The Solar Sisters Game, a tabletop adventure from Lichenwood Games (Favor: Gods of Oethera) and 10 Forward Productions, launching soon on Kickstarter.
Solar Sisters arrives October 13, 2026, available in paperback (ISBN: 9781545827772 | $12.99) and hardcover (ISBN: 9781545827789 | $17.99) editions. The book is already available for preorder wherever comics and books are sold, including papercutz.com.
Direct Market FOC is October 14, so comic shops should keep their scanners ready.
If you’re looking for a sci-fi adventure packed with laughs, heart, and a cosmic spotlight that burns brighter than a supernova, Solar Sisters is ready for liftoff.
And trust us—this is one launch you won’t want to miss.
