Creature Feature Vault 1 Re-animates Long Dead Horror Content

Source Point Press, a horror and sci-fi publisher, is excited to announce the debut of the first in a series of books: Frantic: Creature Feature Vault 1. This publication is part of a restoration endeavor by author and artist Joshua “Frantic” Werner, under the umbrella of his popular “Classic Pulp” series.

Frantic: Creature Feature Vault 1 is a collection of articles, essays, short stories, and comics from the exciting worlds of horror and science fiction that were previously lost to time. The specially curated collection was carefully restored and remastered by Werner himself, a “horror-storian” and self proclaimed monster movie fanatic.

“We’re living in a new era,” says Joshua Werner, “where a lot of incredible content only exists in highly limited quantities of ever-decaying antique physical copies. So much is being lost to time, and in many cases time has already been so cruel as to scrub from history the names of those who created it. My mission is to bring lost content from the past to a new audience, so that it may continue to live on and fascinate creature kids, like myself, around the world.”

The articles and stories in the book hail from a golden age of horror and science fiction, all newly edited and redesigned with new typography and even some new illustrations by Werner himself. Photos and illustrations brought out of the past have undergone a seven-step process, undoing decades of damage done to the scarce remaining copies of the original publications that monster movie fans experienced once upon a time. Amongst the contents of Vault 1 are a story of the rise of Rod Serling and The Twilight Zone, a comprehensive look at the career of Boris Karloff, a close-up look at The Day of the Triffids and This Island Earth, behind-the-scenes concept art for Planet of the Apes, a deep dive into the remarkable transformation of Lon Chaney into The Hunchback of Notre Dame, as well as short horror stories, comics, and more.

“Classic Pulp began as a way to prevent forgotten comic book stories of the past from disappearing, with the goal of restoring them to their original beauty,” says Werner. “With the Frantic volumes I want to do so much more. There’s something about reading a review for a classic horror film your grandparents might remember from their childhood,  that was written while the movie was still in theaters, and seeing promotional stills that may not have had eyes laid on them for decades. Being one of the people to peek into a bygone era feels special, like joining a Creature Feature Club. Frantic is a time machine, and I’d like to welcome all creature kids to be my passengers.”

Frantic: Creature Feature Vault 1 was released May 29th on Amazon as well as other online book retailers and will also be made available to order at SourcePointPress.com on June 4th, 2024. Don’t miss your chance to become a part of this horror-verse and solve these thrilling murder mysteries.
