Daredevil: Art, Vision & Legacy David Mack & Alex Maleev Bring Hell’s Kitchen to Life at Rhode Island Comic Con!
The energy was intense at Rhode Island Comic Con as fans gathered for one of the most anticipated panels of the weekend. Bud “The Professor” Young hosted a powerful session with two of Marvel’s most influential creators: David Mack and Alex Maleev.
This panel was a deep dive into creativity, process, and the artistic evolution of Daredevil. Fans got a rare look at how emotion, atmosphere, and character drive some of Marvel’s most memorable stories.
David Mack is known for his work on Daredevil, Kabuki, and Echo. His mixed-media approach blends emotion with visual experimentation. Every page he creates feels like a piece of fine art. He spoke about using rhythm, color, and symbolism to shape the narrative.
Alex Maleev’s art defined a new era for Daredevil. His gritty textures and noir-inspired tone brought realismand weight to the character’s world. Maleev described how he builds atmosphere, uses lighting, and creates tension on the page.
Together, the two creators talked about what makes Matt Murdock such a rich and complex character to explore. Their combined insight gave fans a fuller understanding of why these runs remain so iconic.
Our fellow Crusader, Bud Young guided the panel with humor, energy, and genuine passion for the craft. His questions opened the door for both creators to reflect on their careers and their time with Marvel. He also highlighted the bond between Mack and Maleev and how their different styles still complement each other beautifully.
Fans praised Bud for keeping the conversation flowing and making the panel feel both educational and fun
This panel was more than a conversation. It was a celebration of storytelling. Fans left with a deeper appreciation for the emotional and visual layers that make Daredevil one of Marvel’s best titles.
