DARK DARKNESS Returns! The Long-Awaited Comic Book Series Smashes Kickstarter Goal in Under Two Hours

After a long hiatus, the cult-favorite horror-comedy series Dark Darkness has returned. The Kickstarter campaign for Dark Darkness #1–3 launched this week and blew past its funding goal in under two hours, signaling the strong return of this offbeat, supernatural comic book series.

Created by Ben Eisner, written by Wilson Large, and brought to life by an all-star team of artists including Ben Hansen, Alonso Molina, Nimesh Morarji and Cassie Anderson. Dark Darkness combines fantasy, horror, humor, and heart in a way that fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Army of Darkness, and The Venture Bros. will love.

The story follows Ronald, Mordecai, Ganamazol, and Jerry the Snakeman—three supernatural misfits and their RPG dungeon master—who find themselves framed for murder and entangled in a world-ending conspiracy to unleash an ancient demon. Equal parts dark fantasy and ridiculous buddy comedy, Dark Darkness is a love letter to tabletop gaming, 80s adventure films, and late-night cult classics.

“The more our four Dark Lords, Ronald, Mordecai, Ganamazol & Snakeman uncover regarding the murder they are accused of, the more they put aside petty differences and murderous intent toward one another. Doorman, Thuggy and Acadia have not stopped their relentless pursuit of them resulting in several battles that can barely be contained within the pages of issue #3,” said writer Wilson Large. “Seeing fans old and new rally around the campaign so quickly has been incredible. This project has always been about having fun in the dark, and now we get to bring that chaos back to life in print comic form.”
