DC & Guide Dogs of America Embark on an Impactful Collaboration
Follow the yearlong initiative with DC’s iconic Super Heroes and the real-life puppy heroes who change lives every day
Super Heroes unite! DC joins forces with the Guide Dogs of America | Tender Loving Canines (GDA|TLC) to transform lives for those who are blind or visually impaired, along with veterans with PTSD or TBI, children with autism, and facility dogs for public institutions, through expertly trained service dogs. After last year’s San Diego Comic-Con collaboration captured the hearts of fans, DC and GDA|TLC are now launching a yearlong partnership, including an adorable, DC-sponsored litter of future guide and service dog superheroes.
“DC and GDA|TLC have an extraordinary opportunity to tell a powerful story together, one that unites DC’s iconic Super Heroes with an organization dedicated to creating life‑changing, four‑legged heroes,” said Jim Lee, president, publisher, and chief creative officer, DC. “Working together spotlights a future where comic book heroism becomes real‑world action, reflected in extraordinary dogs whose bravery and service transform lives one step at a time. In a rare and meaningful departure from their standard naming conventions, GDA|TLC has allowed this DC-sponsored litter to be named after iconic DC characters. Introducing Krypto, Clark, Lois, Kara, and Lobo.”
- Krypto: Krypto the Superdog is where good dogs and great superheroes intersect.
- Clark Kent: Clark is the mild-mannered secret identity of Superman, an alien from the planet Krypton. He’s known for his strong morals, kind heart, and dedication to using his superhuman abilities for good.
- Lois Lane: Lois Lane is a tenacious journalist, known for her sharp intellect, strong will, and relentless pursuit of truth, often putting herself in danger to get a story.
- Kara Zor-El: Also known as Supergirl, Kara possesses all of Superman’s powers—from superhuman strength, speed, and invulnerability all the way down to his flight and enhanced senses—but is still learning to control these awesome abilities.
- Lobo: This intergalactic alien badass is known as the best bounty hunter in the universe. He has fought on the side of both the good guys and the bad, pretty much just drifting toward whoever pays him the most to get the job done.
“Puppy Go Home Day is where potential turns into purpose,” said Tony Blevins, president and director of Guide Dogs of America | Tender Loving Canines. “Partnering with DC brings a powerful and joyful energy to this moment. Together, we are celebrating the everyday heroes who open their homes, dedicate their time, and believe in the extraordinary impact these dogs will one day have on the world.”
After graduating from puppy prekindergarten training, these future service‑dog heroes will embark on an inspiring journey to become trusted canine partners who bring confidence, mobility, and independence to people in need, moving from the GDA|TLC campus into the homes of skilled volunteer puppy-raisers who continue to transform these golden-labrador crosses into loyal companions with their own versions of superpowers.
“At DC, we’re known for telling stories about Super Heroes, but this collaboration gives us the opportunity to share a different kind of story, one rooted in real-world heroism,” said Anne DePies, SVP and general manager, DC. “The most impactful stories inspire connection and empathy, and last year at SDCC we saw firsthand how these guide dogs sparked joy and meaningful engagement with fans at the DC booth. That emotional response is a powerful reminder of the life‑changing impact these dogs will one day have on someone in need. We’re proud to help shine a light on the everyday heroes who make an extraordinary difference in our communities.”
DC fans can follow the DC pups at DC.com/pups as their training unfolds throughout the year, as the collaboration with Guide Dogs of America will deliver a series of co-branded events, media moments, and storytelling activations, celebrating impact, community, and heroism. Fans will also be able to join the fun and follow along through social activations throughout the year and even meet the puppies in person at San Diego Comic-Con in July.
