Enter If You Dare. Convention Horror Comes to Life!
From The Minds Behind Dread the Halls Comes a Horrific, Satirical, and All-Too-Real Look at Convention Culture
‘Tis an event of dreams, nightmares, and the kind of con-crushing exhaustion that lingers for days—the convention’s Hall H is the stuff of legend.
Readers survived the jingle-jangle of Dread the Halls over the holidays—now, it’s time to face the beastly horrors of Hall H!
From the twisted minds of Jordan Hart (Ripple Effects) and Chris Ryall (Zombies vs Robots) comes DREAD THE HALL H, a horror anthology from Image Comics’ imprint Syzygy Publishing that rips open the madness of comic conventions and unleashes the terrors lurking within. Get ready—this summer, the fandom isn’t the only thing screaming!
This terrifying, hilarious, and all-too-relatable convention horror anthology boasts a powerhouse lineup of artists—including Nelson Dániel (Dying is Easy), Piotr Kowalski (Creepshow), Jimmy Kucaj (Come Find Me), and Chris Anderson (Heavy Metal). In this extended issue, readers are thrust into the deepest, darkest corners of convention culture—where fandom reaches feverish extremes. From the desperate overnight line camps where die-hard fans trade sleep for a chance at all the gory glory, to the ruthless frenzy of exclusive merch hunts, to the shadowy forces controlling the ultimate backstage access, no part of the con is safe. And at the heart of it all lies the most infamous room in history… Hall H, where the real horrors wait in the dark.
“The comic conventions I attended as a kid were in the cigarette-hazed party rooms of Milwaukee’s bowling alleys,” said co-creator and writer Jordan Hart. “When I finally made it to San Diego as an attendee shortly after college, it felt like Valhalla. Comics. Movies. Toys. Video Games. Exclusives. Treasure Hunts. Obstacle Courses. There are endless things to do at these big, multi-day conventions. So, it wasn’t hard for us to work horror and satire into a few of them like Hollywood Q&As, overnight line camping, backstage access, and exclusive item chasing.”
“As much as I love comic conventions—I’ve not missed San Diego’s since 1997—I’ve also had several experiences that have provided perfect fodder for a comic like Dread The Hall H,” said co-writer and Syzygy publisher Chris Ryall. “This comic is both our absolute love letter to convention culture and a fun way of exorcising the many demons we’ve amassed while attending these sprawling and overwhelming events, all brought to life in beautifully vivid fashion throughout the four stories presented in this issue.”
With covers by Maria Wolf (Cosmic Ghost), a convention-line wraparound by Nelson Dániel, and a “con-badge” incentive cover by Jordan Hart, Dread The Hall H is the perfect, terrifying read to keep you entertained while you wait to get into that highly-anticipated and massive convention.
For fans of classic EC anthologies, Creepshow, Come Find Me, Voices in My Head, and Hello Darkness—this is a must-have for horror, satire, and comic convention die-hards alike.
Dread The Hall H arrives in comic shops on July 23rd, from Image Comics and Syzygy Publishing. Preorder now through your local comic shop or favorite online retailer.
