First Look: Blood and Thunder Are Our Last Hope in 'Blood & Thunder #2' from Benito Cereno, E.J. Su, MSassyK & Robert Kirkman

Skybound and Image Comics revealed interior pages and the lineup of variant covers for the all-new comic book series Blood & Thunder’s second issue. From the powerhouse team of writer Benito Cereno (Invincible Presents: Atom Eve), artist E.J. Su (Tech Jacket), colorist MSassyK (Gotham Academy), letterer Rus Wooton (TRANSFORMERS), and co-creator Robert Kirkman (Invincible, The Walking Dead, Void Rivals), the next chapter in this explosive saga will hit comic book shops on June 11, 2025.

The Prisoner from Cell Block X has escaped. The sprawling, space-bound metropolis of Metro 1 is no longer secure. The Bounty Hunter Akeldama “Blood” Bledsoe, and her fast-talking gun, Thunder, are the last hope. The clock’s ticking—can they stop him before it’s too late?

Plus, discover the first meeting between Blood and Thunder in an epic flashback!

“Kirkman and the team behind Blood & Thunder were looking to strike a balance between (literally) kicking the door down with action in the first issue and laying the seeds for just what the hell’s going on inside this gilded city floating in space,” said Senior Editor Nachie Marsham. “And readers are going to see more of that balance in issue #2 and beyond. All the action, all the shouting, all the questionable decisions, and we’re just getting started!”

In addition to the main cover by E.J. Su and MSassyK, the lineup of variant covers for Blood & Thunder #2 also includes an open-to-order cover by David Lopez, a 1:10 incentive variant cover by Andie Tong & Rex Lokus, and a 1:25 incentive variant cover by Bernard Chang.

Blood & Thunder #1 sold out at the distributor level immediately after its debut and will return with a new printing. The second printing will feature two all-new covers, cover A by comics legend Arthur Adams and Tanya Lehoux and cover B by superstar series artist E.J. Su and colorist MSassyK.
