INVADER COMICS ENTERS THE SUPERNATURAL REALM WITH THE LAUNCH OF DEATH’S IMMORTAL HUNTER

Imagine Hellblazer meets Highlander by way of Something Is Killing The Children.

OAKLAND, May 9, 2025 – What would happen if something were to shatter the delicate balance between life and death? People would live longer, sure — but at what price? Would the joy and empathy they seek become a thing of the past when immortality is just given? Invader Comics tackles these important questions in a thrilling new supernatural series, DEATH’S IMMORTAL HUNTER, from writer K.I. Miller (Recall, Unknown Caller) with art by the terrifying trio of Dean Kotz, Dave Mims and Camilo Ponce.

At the center of the story is the Hunter — a mysterious figure who, despite his noble intentions, has pierced the veil between life and death. This disruption has unleashed chaos, allowing both light and darkness to thrive without restraint. In response, Death — a literal entity — delivers an ultimatum: restore the balance, or face the Reaping, a cosmic reckoning that will reset existence itself.

“The series was born out of my love for Highlander, Hellblazer (John Constantine) and Mike Mignola’s Hellboy,” says writer/creator, K.I. Miller. “I’ve been circling this idea for years, and it’s gone through many evolutions. These three short stories are the result of a lot of trial and error — the first real breakthrough where I’ve found a tone and a world that feels just right. My hope is that they stand on their own as fun action-horror pieces while seeding a much larger story in the vein of Something Is Killing the Children and Hack/Slash — gritty, supernatural, and emotionally charged.”

This 66-page one-shot is the perfect introduction to a character whose job will never end. Cursed with hunting down the demons he himself unleased into the world, the Hunter can never rest, never stop, never relent … until the job is done! The Hunter’s mistake has tilted the world in favor of life, but not in a hopeful or redemptive way. It’s grotesque — with people living their lives untethered from the boundaries of mortality — losing all sense of the compassion, perspective, and fragility that gives life meaning. In this world, the eternal becomes a curse.

This series of shorts is my proving ground. A fertile landscape where I explore the character, mythos and themes that lay the foundation for the series,” adds Miller. “At its core, Death’s Immortal Hunter is about relationships — especially our relationship with death. I want to dig deep into the worldbuilding, the mythology, and the emotional weight of a flawed protagonist who fights demons — both figurative and literal — while questioning everything they’ve done to bring the world to this point.”

Death’s Immortal Hunter launched with a Kickstarter campaign timed to coincide with the pagan festival of May Day (or Beltane) on May 1 and was fully funded within its first five days. It gives readers the chance to get their hands on this special one-shot, introducing the DIH universe, as well as discovering creator K.I. Miller’s previous books, Recall and Unknown Caller. There’s also the chance to score original art from interior artist, Dean Kotz, along with other options designed to suit every taste and budget.
