This summer, the wildly ambitious, galaxy-brained science-fiction epic Three Worlds / Three Moons from Jonathan Hickman, Mike del Mundo, Mike Huddleston, and Nick Spencer officially comes to print at Dark Horse Comics. If you’ve been hearing whispers, rumors, and hushed “yo, have you seen this?” conversations online, now you know why. What began life digitally at 3w3m.com is now leveling up into a full-scale publishing event.

This universe is the brainchild of an all-killer, no-filler creative team: Hickman (X-Men, East of West), del Mundo (Avengers, Spawn: Unwanted Violence), Huddleston (Decorum, The Strain), and Spencer (Amazing Spider-Man, The Fix). We’re talking comics, graphic novels, and beyond, all unified under one massive sci-fi vision. Dark Horse will be bringing the entire saga to comic shops and bookstores starting July 2026.

The first shot fired in this cosmic war is Foundations, a prestige one-shot that sets the tone, scale, and stakes for everything to come. Written by Hickman and Spencer, illustrated by del Mundo and Huddleston, and lettered by the always-on-point Rus Wooton, this issue lays the groundwork for a universe that’s been years in the making. Hickman put it best, saying he’s beyond excited to partner with Dark Horse so comic shops and fans can finally experience this project the way it was meant to be seen in print, in hand, and in full glory.

So what’s Foundations about? Across a distant solar system and endless cycles of time, a war has raged magic versus science, order versus chaos. When astronaut-explorer Tajo Vallar embarks on a doomed mission to a dormant moon packed with secrets, that ancient conflict reignites… and this time, the consequences are catastrophic. This isn’t just an origin story it’s the ignition point.

Foundations clocks in at 32 pages, will retail for $6.99, and arrives in prestige, magazine-sized format because a universe this big deserves room to breathe. It hits comic shops on July 8, 2026, and yes, you should absolutely be preordering it at your local shop. And here’s the kicker: this is only the beginning. Creators like Christian Ward, James Stokoe, Juni Ba, Ram V, Al Ewing, Steve Epting, Stephen Green, Tini Howard, Phil Hester, and more are already lined up for future projects in the 3W/3M universe.
