Le Destroy Announces Trashumanism Tabletop Role Playing Game + NYCC and Graphic Novel Out Now!
Austin-based artist Le Destroy took New York Comic Con 2024 by storm with the exciting announcement of “Trashumanism: The Tabletop Role Playing Game.” Expanding her bold, multimedia universe that already includes an album and graphic novel of the same name. This thrilling new addition promises to immerse fans even deeper into the Trashumanism experience.
The Trashumanism universe began with Le Destroy’s debut album, TRASHUMANISM, where the 10 tracks unfold as visual chapters in the graphic novel of the same name and now introducing, “Trashumanism: The Tabletop RPG.” Debuting at New York Comic Con for her panel, “Groundbreaking Musician Le Destroy Discusses Trashumanism,” Le Destroy announced the story-forward cyberpunk tabletop game about building resistance and fighting back against the megacorps that control you – players will build their crews, sow dissent, and take back Capital City one megacorp at a time.
“I want to be disruptive and make people think,” said Le Destroy, who was previously courted by Interscope and Warner Bros., and whose perspectives are highly informed by a post collegiate degree in earth science from the University of California San Diego. “The scientist and artist in me want people to be curious and want them to be excited about discovering new things and challenging themselves to think outside the box.”
Le Destroy collaborated with creatives from various mediums to create this multimedia project. Her recent debut album, TRASHUMANISM, included Producer Danny Lohner (Nine Inch Nails), featured drums by Josh Freese (Foo Fighters), and was mastered by Howie Weinberg (Nirvana, Garbage, Yeah Yeah Yeahs). To amplify the music and story, Le Destroy created “Trashumanism – The Graphic Novel,” in collaboration with Grammy Nominated Visual Artist, Lordess Foudre and for “Trashumanism: The Tabletop Role Playing Game,” Le Destroy tapped Chris Handley. An ENNIE Award-winning roleplay game writer, software engineer, ex-academic, podcaster (Darker Days Radio), and senior writer for Cybr Magazine, to be a part of this thrilling new addition to the project.
Handley said, “To say that I am excited to work with Kristina is an understatement, as her music in Cyberpunk 2077 grabbed my attention, plus we have a shared love of various tabletop games. Having previously written for roleplay games such as Warhammer 40k, Warhammer Fantasy, Vampire the Masquerade, and Iron Kingdoms, the opportunity to develop the world within the Trashumanism graphic novel further so that it is a shared experience with players is a huge one. There are so many questions to answer and chilling truths to elaborate upon. Collaborating on this venture allows me to draw upon my previous academic experience (chemical simulations for drug design and material science) and my role as the senior writer for CYBR Magazine, and together we can envision all manner of technologies and dystopian threats, and create an immersive setting where players can resist against the corrupt authorities.”
Le Destroy creates a range of aggressively haunting industrial music, passionate punk anthems and dancey electronic rock. Although Le Destroy is relatively new, Olson’s history in music is not. She cut her teeth moving to Los Angeles fresh out of high school and honed her chops banging on her acoustic in true grunge fashion. She played for anyone who would listen and eventually managed to play her way into The Enterprise, a now defunct recording studio in Burbank, CA. There she found herself alongside the likes of P!NK, Linda Perry, and Dave Pensado. Both P!NK and Pensado were early supporters of Olson’s.
Olson continued developing her skills working on film music with industry powerhouses like Forest Whitaker, writing songs for Lakeshore Records movie soundtracks, and singing the theme song to an animated Barbie film by Mattel. Olson’s songwriting skills eventually earned her an invitation to speak on a Grammy Panel at USC and perform at the Producers and Engineers Party for the Recording Academy.
More recently, Olson’s work was commissioned by the makers of the Cyberpunk 2077 video game for their Radio Volume soundtracks and in-game music alongside Run The Jewels, HEALTH and SOPHIE – “Sleek and futuristic, dirty and aggressive,” said Charlie Clouser (NIN, Saw, American Horror Story). “Le Destroy really captures the feel of a scary future where anything might happen, and gets me pumped to do bad things in the world of Cyberpunk 2077.”
