Marvel’s Bishop Returns in Explosive New Solo Series – The Future’s Deadliest Mutant Reclaims His Legacy

Mutant fans, strap in because one of the X-Men’s toughest time-traveling warriors is stepping back into the spotlight in a BIG way.

Lucas Bishop, the energy-absorbing powerhouse from one of mutantkind’s darkest futures, is about to face a nightmare that refuses to stay in the past. This June, Marvel unleashes BISHOP, a brand-new five-issue limited series from superstar writer Saladin Ahmed (Wolverine) and rising star artist Mario Santoro (Storm). And let’s just say… the timeline is about to get messy.

Bishop has spent his life fighting to protect the present from the horrors of the future he came from. But now that future is punching back hard. Enter the Final Brotherhood, a deadly new squad of villains born from Bishop’s own timeline who have traveled to the present with one mission—erase Bishop from existence before he can change their destiny. Yeah… that’s the kind of problem you don’t solve with a calendar.

To stop them, Bishop will have to team up with someone who means everything to him—his sister Shard. Fans of the ‘90s X-Factor era and past Bishop stories know Shard’s tragic fate has haunted him for years. Now she’s suddenly here in the present… sent back in time just moments before the day she was meant to die. And that raises the ultimate question: Will Bishop stay loyal to the code that’s guided him his entire life and protect the timestream… or will he risk everything to save the person he loves most? Like Marvel’s recent character-driven solo hits starring Rogue and Cyclops, BISHOP is shaping up to be a thrilling standalone saga that digs deep into the heart, pain, and legacy of the character—while throwing him into one of the most dangerous missions of his life.

Writer Saladin Ahmed is clearly loving every minute of exploring the character’s emotional core and explosive powers. “I’m having a blast doing a deep dive into the dark corners of Lucas Bishop’s time-travel-traumatized mind,” Ahmed shared. “I love stories that mix family drama with big spectacle, so getting to balance explosive temporal battles with the quiet emotional weight of sibling relationships is exactly my kind of storytelling.” Artist Mario Santoro is just as fired up to bring Bishop’s world to life on the page. “When I worked on Storm, I had the chance to draw Bishop and I really enjoyed it,” Santoro explained. “I never imagined I’d get the opportunity to draw a full solo adventure for him. I’ve always loved the X-Men, and getting to collaborate with Saladin Ahmed and the team on this story is incredibly exciting.”

Ahmed also teased that Santoro is bringing some wild visuals to the series. “Mario Santoro’s pages are absolutely thrilling, and he’s designed some INSANE new hybrid mutant villains for the Final Brotherhood.” Visually, the book is already looking like a must-grab. Fans can check out the stunning main cover by Davide Paratore along with awesome variant covers from Fabrizio De Tommaso and the always-fun Skottie Young. Bottom line? The time-lost X-Man is back—and the timeline may never be the same.

Make sure to grab BISHOP #1 when it hits your local comic shop this June, and keep your eyes locked on Marvel.com for more details.

Because when Bishop shows up… the future always follows.
