PRETTY HATE MACHINE #1 Preview: A Brutal New Indie Comic You Need to Read

Life already hits hard when you’re a teenager… but for Thomas, the universe just cranked the dial straight to nightmare mode.

High school drama? That’s the easy part. Everything changes when Thomas’s father dies in a mysterious “accident” that feels more wrong the deeper you look. His grieving mother starts leaning on his uncle for support, the adults keep repeating the same tired line about time healing wounds… and then things get seriously twisted.

Because that’s when Luther shows up.

And Luther is not your average imaginary friend.

This creepy little ghoul looks like he crawled straight out of a horror legend knives for hands, rows of ancient shark-like teeth, and a smile that screams bad decisions ahead. Luther claims Thomas’s father didn’t die in an accident… he was murdered. Worse? Luther insists the people Thomas trusts most might be lying to him.

Now Thomas is caught between two terrifying possibilities.

Believe the world he knows friends, teachers, family who tell him grief can mess with your head… or follow Luther down a brutal rabbit hole of conspiracies, secrets, and blood-soaked vengeance.

And Luther? Yeah… he’s more than happy to help Thomas uncover the truth.

The problem is Luther’s version of “help” tends to leave a trail of carnage behind it.

As Thomas digs deeper into the mystery surrounding his father’s death, the line between truth and madness begins to shatter. The deeper he goes, the more dangerous the answers become… and the more it looks like the truth might be far darker than he ever imagined. Because sometimes the truth doesn’t set you free. Sometimes it opens the door to something far worse.

PRETTY HATE MACHINE #1 hits shelves April 8, 2026.

Get ready for a wild ride through grief, paranoia, supernatural horror, and the terrifying question every mystery asks sooner or later:

What if the monster telling you the truth… is actually the most dangerous thing in your life?
