REVIEW: AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #52.LR
Let me first start off by saying that I am pumped by the direction of the Spider-man titles. In the previous issue of The Amazing Spider-Man #51.LR, after Peter“s disappearance, Doctor Strange confronts Black Cat about the missing Hand of Vishanti. After discovering that he can“t just take it from the thief, he decides that the best way to save Peter“s soul is to team up with the burglar. The Knullified Spider team people had started attacking random people in the city. The Sin-eater had derived a plan to cur favor with his master. Morlun reappears.
In the current issue of The Amazing Spider-Man #52.LR, the Spider team is returned to normal and must work together to help the people hurt by their damage. Mary-Jane, and Osborn get into a discussion about helping Peter and Harry. Doctor Strange and Black cat use the hand of Vishanti to travel to the Astral Plane. Morlun makes another appearance (Amazing Spider-Man Vol 2 #30), but doesn’t yet seems to be a apart of the narrative.
I am going to take this for what this is, a welcoming back into the fold the idea of the Spider Totem. Pretty soon we should see the Inheritors, and the Master Weaver, Inansi! So I am Pumped. There are some intriguing Mary Jane Panels, but for the most part, I really don’t care for the Sin-Eater and the Kindred. Its a shame they took so long.
I appreciate Marvel recognizing that this kind of a transition book with with the .LR but, the price unfortunately does not reflect that recognition. A lot of great ideas that I loved, bogged down by unnecessary dialogue. At least we didn’t get bogged down by a thousand variant covers.
3 stars out of 5.
