REVIEW: ARCADE KINGS #2 (OF 5)

Arcade King two begins with more back story of how Joe and his younger brother Ken were raised by Victor McMax.

We saw in issue one, Victor, the top fighter of his time and 20 time World Champion was at the top of his game, then he retired as a fighter. He worked diligently with both Joe and his younger brother Ken, favoriting Joe for his skill in fighting. Fast forward to present time and Joe is on his own going from arcade to arcade racking up quarters as he takes on the best Top Rank video game fighters.

A lot transpires in issue one, specifically about his family. Why is Joe on his own, were is Victor and his little brother Ken? Joe has a past that is unseen by those around him, but will soon make an appearance.

In issue two we see Joe being pushed into moving to the next arcade where we meet Plum, another fighter protecting the city from outsiders and McMax fighters. Amazing action scenes are plenty in the first two issues. The art is explosive on each page with vibrant colors, exaggerated facial expressions, gamer lingo, and all around fun.

These series is amazing. The story is engaging, and Dylan Burnett is incredible as the creator, writer, and artist for this series. If you ever spent time in an arcade placing your quarter on the game as you call next, you are going to love this story. A nod to anyone who grew up playing Street Fighter after school. There are a lot more details we will leave out of this review as this is a must read comic for any gamer fan.
