Review: Bleed Them Dry #4

In the last issue of Bleed Them Dry #3, Detective Atticus Black has been placed in charge of stopping the so-called “Vampire Slayer”“ and finding (the still missing) Detective Harper Halloway. Accusations flew up and down the bureau as it seems that Harper may have been helping the Slayer in a way.

Until the current issue of Bleed Them Dry #4, when Detective Harper Halloway, shows up on the door of her friend Cameron, who then compels her to explain what has been going on. In a way that feels like this issue is meant as a catchup issue for the reader. Basically, all the most important aspects of the title are covered in this conversation.

There are two Vampire Slayers in Asylum, and one of is Detective Atticus. All the Natural Born Vampires are from a different world, but the history of humans has been so distorted that they do not even remember that they were conquered. Detective Harper is a Vampire and almost out of control.

The secondary effect to all of this is that, With Atticus in charge of the Police Force, h has now re-activated the Special Anti-Terrorist Taskforce (S.T.A.K.E). Also, the once very tight, but now strained relationship between Cameron and Harper has become beyond frayed.

At four issues in Bleed them Dry, central themes continue to be trying to survive in a NEO-Fascist world, supported by the police state, that just happens to have vampires. Believe it or not I was hard pressed to find any ongoing series that are similar to Bleed Them Dry, but I would compare it the Underworld Fil Series, and the Russian Film series Night watch/Day watch. But Bleed Them Dry does it better. I could see this coming to a silver screen.
