REVIEW: Blood Squad Seven #1

Alright cover, feels a little old school with the yellow and orange color palette and the bounding box right in the middle. Having the characters mostly in Shadow is intersting but since this is a first issue maybe not the best choice, kinda feel weird about how the characters are sort of off-center. They look alright though. Not the best cover but also not horrible.

Nice credit page though, simple and to the point with a big I for the image logo in the center that’s cool. Great ccedit page honestly.

Alright art feels very new-age marvel with it’s cell shaded colors with a little bit of blending, not my favorite but it’s alright. The character designs are decent though, and it started in a good way. Quick and right into some action. Good start for a #1.

Cool angles in some of the panels, not your standards crops and body shots. I like that. Some really nice action shots honestly. A lot of quick moments during the action and I like it, very no-nonsense kind of stuff. A lot of thought is going into these poses, especially the action shots and I’m really liking it. I think the actions scenes are we the bread and butter of this comic are, it almost feels like the art style is different too. A bit more cell shaded but also a lot more polished.

Seems like they are inspired in the avengers to a certain degree, kinda felt that way in the control room scene. The jump cut of the action figure to the actual human person was really cool, and so was the page turn cut to the being outside of reality, both scenes were really cool and the ending of that scene was really cool too. I’m liking the superhuman character designs those are the best, the actual humans are alright nothing too fancy but they’re good.

Oh damn!! THe cliffhanger is pretty fucking intense. This was good comic, a strong 4.5/5. It was a bit boring in some parts, mostly the bureacratic stuff and no sound fx test but all in all a strong comic. I enjoyed reading it. The back cover is way cooler than the front cover honestly.

SCORE:
4.5/5
