Review: Mann’s World #3
Story Thus Far:
Mann’s World is a futuristic adventure that follows a group of college friends on a Safari trip to the Galactic Tourist Destination known as Mann’s World. What starts out as a guy’s retreat in Lieu of a comrade’s divorce soon turns into a fight for survival as things take a turn for the worse.
In the current issue Heavy weight Boxer, Duncan Sharpe and most of the group have escaped being killed by the residents that jumped them, except for Larry Rose, the owner of the Burger Franchise. But now they are still stranded in the wilderness without transport or communication gear.
Dialogue:
Mann’s World Dialogue written by: Victor Gischler remains intriguingly efficient. In that just the conversations alone will have your head spinning. That is saying something in a story where half the colony is trying to kill the main characters. Every word out of Duncan Sharpe’s mouth makes my Spider sense go-off h makes you want to knock the teeth out of it. Even when his friends are in danger every action, he takes is nothing more than a manipulative device.
Art:
The art was done by Niko Walter and Coloring done by Snakebite Cortez. The Atmosphere kind of reminds me of the film the Ritual. This obviously belongs on the big screen and the panel work that felt like layouts for a movie rather than just another comic book.
There are some out of scenario panels that distract from the story and keep it from feeling like a true horror story and more like a disaster film. I mistakenly got keyed into some of the characters only for them to be discarded quickly. Yet we are stuck with a weasel of a character and another one meant to serve as an author surrogate. Mann’s World continues to be good story, unfortunately it feels like it is getting ready to wrap up when I was expecting more.
