REVIEW: Spawn Issue 350

Spawn 350 is finally upon us and the throne has been taken and the result has huge ramifications for earth. No spoilers here, but this was a lot of fun.

With over 32 years of Spawn, issue 350 finally arrives and the battle for hell’s throne comes to an end as there will be a ruler of hell. The throne has sent empty for years since Spawn killed the prior king Malebolgia way back in issue 100. The time has finally arrived, and we see several looking to take that throne including Sinn, Clown, and Spawn.

This issue jumps almost immediately into the battle for the throne with several action scenes between those vying to be ruler of hell. Whoever takes the throne knows it comes with immense power. If the wrong person takes it the ramifications will be felt in both heaven and hell.

Written by Rory McConville with additional script by Todd McFarlane the story waste no time getting into the plot for the throne. This quick paced issue has a lot of action with some big reveals. You might know Rory from other titles like Time before time, Judge Dredd, and Write it in Blood to name a few.

Todd McFarlane created Spawn while still in school. It was in 1992 that Spawn was made a reality to record setting sales. With over 32 years later,  Spawn shows no signs of slowing down. The Spawn world Todd has created includes Gunslinger Spawn, Scorched, and King Spawn with 10 new titles coming over the next couple years starting with Sam and Twitch which will be in comic shops this March followed by Rat City and others later this year.

The art in this issue is done by both Carlo Barberi and Brett Booth. Carlo has worked with Marvel on titles like the Avengers, Nova, The Hulk, and Deadpool, for DC he has worked on Superman, Blue Beetle, Wonder Women and more!

Brett Booth is coming over from Gunslinger Spawn. Brett has also worked with DC on title Titans. Harley Quinn. Nightwing, Justice League of America and more!

I think it is also important to highlight the great Tom Orzechowski who lettered issue 350 of Spawn. What makes Tom so special is he has lettered Spawn since 1992, 32 years with Todd on this title. This is absolutely amazing and puts Tom in legend status.

This week you can pick up this incredible milestone for Spawn in your local LCS. There are several variant covers including a signed Todd McFarlane cover variant that will be sent to any comic shop that ordered 25 or more of issue 350.
