REVIEW: Spider-Man India #1

After the impressive box office hit Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, we are seeing a mad rush for collectors and fans to get their hands on anything Spider-Man Spider-Verse related. That would also include comics of Spider-Man and Woman like Jessica Drew, Spider-Punk, Spider-Gwen and of course Spider-Man India or Pavitr Prabhakar who played a key roll in Across the Spider-Verse.

After a 20 year absence from print Pavitr Prabhakar of Earth-50101 is back. This time with new villains in one of the most populated cities in the world, Mumbai. We begin with Peter Parker, Miles Morales, and Pavitr Prabhakar sitting at lunch after beating a three headed Mysterio. They share their loneliness as Spider-Man as Peter provides much needed feedback as the elder statesmen of the group to Pavitr.

Stopping crime in a city as large as Mumbai seems to be a lost cause to Pavitr, but like any good hero he presses on. Pavitr and his best friend Nish are in classes when things are about to get very interesting. Listening to Dr. Kushal B. Kumar, a brilliant scientist and thinker who is doing research on reptilian brains and primal instincts. The story really begins here and Pavitr is invited to learn more about this subject.
