REVIEW: The Last Mermaid Issue 1

The Last Mermaid issue one is a unique story with beautiful art. It is a story about a mermaid and her companion Lottie. In a world short of water and food, mermaid seems to be on the constant search for both.

Living in a robotic shell that holds water for her and Lottie’s existence, the struggle to constantly find the resources needed to survive is the only thing important in issue 1. The art by is truly stunning by Derek who is the creator, writer, and artist. The simple color tones used through issue one seems to be a perfect fit with his art.The dialog is minimal allowing the art to do the heavy lifting in issue one. That is not to take away from the importance if the dialog. It seems to be just right. I am looking forward to issue 2!!
