Review: The Nice House on the Lake #1

Story Thus Far:

A mysterious man decides to throw a party at his guesthouse on the lake.  He has selected 10 of his closest friends.  It turns out the party was just a front to get them out of the city. Because once they all get out the world will never be the same.

Dialogue:

It starts out with some exposition, but the mood quickly changes to introductory. You will not find much of an explanation yet.  Tynion, did well to leverage social media to demonstrate the carnage, and letting the characters react to it.

Script:

As far as post-apocalyptic stories go the story flows like butter. Not too grotesque or, preachy.  There are some scary moments, but they are more confusing than anything else.  The best part is that there are 10 characters that we get to know during the series, but already I could care less about them. By that I mean there is no final girl shoved down our throats.

ART:

The art for The Nice House on the Lake #1, was drawn by Alvaro Martinez Bueno, and colored by Jordie Bellaire.  As proven by some of the variant covers there are some heavy hitting panels.
