REVIEW: The World of Tomorrow #2

World of Tomorrow Episode 2, “Alone and Out-Gunned” written by Giles Clarke jumps right into Captain Cal Armstrong awakening in a strange land after an unexpected ambush by the cowardly Maldivian space pirates, a situation Captain Cal finds himself in more often then not. Or does he?

After a successful crowdfunding campaign in 2022 for issue 1, issue 2 will be available at your LCS in June.

In this second installment of World of Tomorrow our TV hero continues to fight between reality and fiction outside of the studio. Writer Giles Clarke does a masterful job in highlighting this struggle. When your life revolves around a fictional Sci-fi character which is now being threatened by cancellation, you can only imagine the waterfall of issues that will follow.

Issue 2 is no different for Craig Barstow AKA Captain Cal Armstrong. It seems as though confusion about reality has become a bigger issue, bigger than Craig is willing to except. Everything he sees is World of Tomorrow. This would be at the detriment of everything in his personal life and even those around him.

The action scenes in this issue are great, the back and forth from Captain Cal Armstrong and others throughout this issue are humorous and engaging.

World of Tomorrow is not only engaging but funny and thought provoking as I feel there is has a deeper message in this comic pertaining to depression, mental illness, or maybe even addiction. You will need to request this issue from your local comic book store and read for yourself to fully understand what is meant by that statement.

The art work is fantastic and really highlights Craig Barstow AKA Captain Cal Armstrong’s back and forth with reality and how those around him react to his demands and actions. The feeling I got at the end of this comic was it came to an end too fast and I found myself with the desire to continue onto issue 3.

World of Tomorrow is the first of two titles under the newly created Uncharted Wilderness Studios from creator/writer Giles Clarke. The second title being Rougarou.

If you are looking for a great indie comic with an amazing story and great artwork then World of Tomorrow is for you.
