REVIEW: Void Rivals Issue 2

Void Rivals created quite the buzz last month as this issue caught many by surprise! When it did arrive and fans were ablate get their hands on it, the excitement kicked in! Transformers and G.I. Joe have officially found a new home at Skybound and Void Rivals issue one was a perfect entrance into the universe Robert Kirkman is created to house these two iconic titles.

Issue one of Void Rivals began with Darak, an Agorrian whose ship crashes on a rock in uncharted space. To his surprise he is met by Solila, a Zertonian and bitter enemy of the Agorrian race. They quickly realize their situation being the only living beings on this rock with two destroyed ships. Darak feels the only chance for escape is to try and build a workable ship out of what remains from the two ships.

The agreement is made but before they can start working on the ship Solila finds what looks to be some sort of space craft buried not far from their crash site. This is where the real excitement begins for Void Rivals. A Cybertron named Jetfire wakes up and before they could ask any questions Jetfire takes off leaving them. This left Transformer fans over joyed and wanting more!

Issue two begins with Darak and Solila working on the new form of transportation using old parts from what was left of their crashed ships. They accomplish this but the way issue two ends with leave you with even more questions and excitement for issue three.

This story on the outside is very exciting seeing the new universe being created by Robert Kirkman and team for the Transformers. Yet in a deeper way we see two waring races of aliens trapped on a rock together having a long history of destroying one another, yet when left alone on a rock with little hope, they come together to find solutions. One of the most powerful portions of the first two issues is when both Darak and Solila taking off their helmets which is against all rules for both races only to find out they are more alike then different. This raises even more questions about those in power creating such a rule in the first place. Do those in power know these similarities and fear each race finding out might stop such a war?

Maybe I am reading into this too much but I feel this is an added portion of the story that is intriguing. If you are not reading Void Rivals now is the time to jump in.
