Let’s judge this book by its cover… It’s not great. The concept is good but the art isn’t great. Not too sure why Peggy is not in colour.
Now if you’re sitting comfortably we can begin… Peggy Carter and Dum Dum Dugan are prying out some new weapons when Dum Dum tells Peg that he has a new Shield recruit he wants her to check out. Enter Lady Sif of Asgard. The two talk and head for lunch when the alarm sounds and the carrier is under attack. The pair head out to investigate when they smell gas as an explosion knocks them through the floor. They head to the loading bay when the alarm sounds to abandon ship when again an explosion rocks the ship and Sif falls out of the bay doors and is struck by a massive lump of the ship and falls. Peggy grabs a line and jumps after her, the line snaps and the ladies fall into the water below. Still unconscious Sif begins to sink while Peggy swims to save her while the ship hits the water and separates the two. Peggy wakes up in hospital with Nick Fury standing by her bed. He informs her that Sif is fine and that the whole thing was a test to see if Peggy had what it takes to join shield. Furious Peggy storms out and confronts Sif who tells her that she only played along because she wanted to meet the great Peggy Carter. The two take Furt’s flying car and head of for a drink.
Being a massive fan of the TV show, I was a little taken aback when I saw this issue, however the longer I read it the more I felt like I was reading about the Peggy I love. The bond between Peggy and Sif felt natural. Peggy refusing to join Shield and Fury telling her she would be a great asset or a serious threat was written well. Dum Dum and Peggy integrated perfectly. It’s very well written and the art had that retro feel to it.
The good, the bad and the star rating…
The Good- The writer knows the character and did her justice.
The Bad- It all felt a little rushed and there were a few jokes that missed the mark hard.
The Stars- Good art, great story makes this a 4 star book. Now I can’t wait for season two of the show begin. Think I’ll go back and re watch season one.

Hey, I'm Shane.
Been into comics since I was about 5. Loved watching Wonder Woman and superboy in the 80's.
I Started reading seriously about 10 years ago. Began to collect a few comic series, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl, Teen Titans, Justice League of America and Superman Batman all pre flashpoint. Being honest that was my favourite run.
