Review: Amazing Fantasy #2
Story Thus Far:
Amazing Fantasy so far has had a Fantasy Island tint to it. Captain America a was on a battleship when it sank . He was marooned on an island full of fantasy creatures. Black Widow escaped the Red room, then she was killed and her soul was whisked away by a centaur for an audience with a mysterious king . Peter Parker awoke to find himself imprisoned by frogmen. He was rescued by a tribe of birdmen and brought to their encampment, where he was reunited with his deceased Uncle Ben.
In the current issue of Amazing Fantasy #2 , Steve Rodgers and Peter parker uncovers part of the lore of the island. Natasha in her own little fantasy receives a proposal of marriage from the King. Also, one of the X-men has now been added to the story.
Art:
Impressive considering Kaare Andrews did most of the pencil and inks herself. The one definitive pick that I have is that the cover art does not match anything in the interior narrative. It kind of feels like false advertising.
Script:
So far, the script is amazing. Action packed, with a little bit of romance shoved in. I’m Here for It. The winning element that has won me over so far is the dialogue and awesome turn of phrases.
Best: Phrase Worse than that …Decadence. Strength became viewed with contempt, not admiration. In the end, my people clipped our own wings.
SCORE: 4/5
Speculation: Zero speculation here. Despite the 1st appearance of some supporting characters. Amazing Fantasy just stands on its feet as the best thing out from Marvel that isn’t event related.
Cover: Amazing Fantasy #2 (OF 5) will have two covers: CVR AFELIPE MASSAFERA; CVR BK A ARE ANDREWS: CVR C PEACH MOMOKO
