Review: Basilisk #3

What happens if people with the power of gods existed in the real world? Basilisk asserts it would be terrifying.

Story Thus far:

Basilisk #3 continues to explore a scenario in which virtual gods try to live among normal everyday humans unnoticed and try not to kill them. In the last issue of Basilisk #2, Regan, and Hannah a grief-stricken mother, continue to try to put more distance in between them and the rest of the gods,

Jimmy and Cara hot on their trail stop by a Diner for lunch only to end up inducing a diner full of people to kill each other and themselves. In the current issue of Basilisk #3, Reagan and Hannah have arrived at their destination, so that Hannah can begin setting her revenge trap Vanessa and Barrett meet up with Jimmy, and Cara so they can go hunt for Hannah and Regan together. But things go sideways, as a quick stop at a rest area turns into a massacre.

Art:

Best situational artwork, that I have seen in a long time. The art team for Basilisk #3 consist of: Jonas Scharf colored by Alex Guimaraes; Ed Dukeshire, letters. The team took the time to let us know where they were, and who they were up against. The cherry on top of the cake was displaying the collateral damage that was about to happen off screen. It still has some things to improve such as character design, but there is plenty of time for that. I do question the red balloon, cause of other franchise implications but ok.

Script:

This is the issue that Basilisk readers have been waiting for. It has great buildup and impeccable timing.

What was made clear is there are consequences of the powers. These gods get hit by bullets and are damaged by it — both psychologically and physically. The most intriguing thing about Basilisk, is that Bunn, has not hesitated to let the read know who is safe and who is not. There isn’t enough for a TV series yet; however, the premise would be a great movie script, and I have no doubt hopefully it gets some attention soon. It reminds me of the film ” MORTAL (2020) the Nat Wolff Thor Fantasy Movie, but with way better writing and development of characters

Speculation:

From what I have read so far, and based on how cheap it is, I would go long on Basilisk #1.

BASILISK #1 had 6 covers: Speculator willing to long hold will want to pay attention to CVR E Unlockable by Jonas Scharf; and the 2nd Print by Danny Lucker
