Review: Cult Classic Creature Feature #1

Lost on certain people who when it comes to the Horror genre is the message that is being sent.Â The strongest message is usually conveyed through is killed and who is saved.Â Â As with most of the horror genre mediums will setup stereotypical character whose primary purpose is to die and communicate the stakes of failure.Â The Black Guy, the nerd, the jerk, the Authority figure.Â Well, Cult Classic Creature Feature #1 doesn’t mess around with whose going to get it.Â Everyone is susceptible.

Cult Classic Creature Feature #1 is set in the town of Whisper.Â Its like any small town, in that everyone know each other and has its share of jerks but nothing out of the ordinary until it starts to experience strange phenomenon, around the same time that a rare comet is passing overhead.

The people in Whisper can’t actually do anything yet because they don’t know that there is an actual problem.Â Even if they knew I don’t believe anyone would have skills to deal with the forces of antagonism that is about to confront them, in order to deal with their predicament.

The only ones who has any idea are these preteens who have snuck out of a sleepover to go into the woods leading to a terrifying sequence of events, that will not only change who they are but the town that they live in.

If you are as obsessively compulsive about looking for Easter Eggs inside of comic books as I am, the Artistic team of Cult Classic Creature Feature #1 did a good job catering to you. The artist team led by John Bivens (Spread), and Colorist Jerrie Monahan even the lettering by Taylor Esposito had an interesting tinge to it.

Final Verdict: 4/5 stars.Â Is timing everything in comic book publishing? To me the reader it is.Â Two weeks right before Halloween, at time when I am looking for more horror motivation, Cult Classic Creature Feature #1 hits the spot.Â The use of a cliffhanger is a bit puzzling and unorthodox, because usually stories such as these are usually resolved in one issue, but I a still intrigued enough to look forward to it coming out issue #2.
