REVIEW: Dark Nights Metal #2
This issue opens up with Superman in space looking at the earth viewing everything that is transpiring in multiple cities. Green Arrow in Gorilla City, Constantine and Zatana in the House of Mystery and Blue Beetle in Luthor Corp H.Q. Metropolis. All reporting into Superman simultaneously, they are all hunting for Batman, who according to the Blackhawks just stole the most powerful weapon in the universe. It then jumps to the Amazon rain forest were the remainder of the Justice League with the entire Bat family all dressed just like the Batman. One by one they are all captured by Cyborg, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash, and Green Lantern. At the end of the battle none of them are actually Bruce Wayne and not one of them posses the weapon the was supposedly stolen.
Will the Justice League be able to locate Batman, and what is the most dangerous weapon in the universe that Batman has stolen from the Blackhawks?
This is usually the part of the review where I list the parts of the book I did not like, but to my delight I loved everything about this issue on every level.
Scott Synder is continuing his career with what seems to be another smash hit. The story he has penned flows seamlessly throughout this issue. Even when jumping to different cities and different parts of the story it stayed smoothed and didn’t get you bogged down trying to figure out what is going on. Scott Synder has really knocked this one out of the park, it was also nice to see all the cameos that appeared throughout the book. The story so far with the metal story arc has also tied into several other Batman story arcs perfectly. Scott Synder in my opinion is the best comic book writer in the business today.
In the past few years and especially with his most recent run on Batman, Greg Capullo has cemented his name as one of the comic book greats, Greg Capullo’s artwork now stands up there with names like Jim Lee and Todd McFarlane, his style and name will be recognizable for years to come. His story telling ability reflected in his panels are second to none. His detail is exquisite and at no point did I question who a character was and where they were located. He was able to depict each character with precise perfection. There are times when I find Greg Capullo to be very cocky, but I am starting to realize that he may have every right to be. 5 out of 5 stars!

This book fired on all cylinders, it followed the first book perfectly. So far in this story arc a lot of information has been laid down in this issue, but Scott Synder has seemed to write it where it isn’t overwhelming. I couldn’t imagine anyone else drawing this book, Greg Capullo’s artwork is truly phenomenal.
